In the past...I've done all star teams of players from different teams. I was wondering if you guys just wanted it filled with particular Negro league teams instead. I like the all star teams myself.
I could even do something like that with the other two teams(the Marlins and Rockies).....great players from the past that get overlooked or something of the sort.....it could be like an ALMOST All-Star team.

I like that idea. Would be interesting to see a 25 man roster for that!!
As far as this set....what you say stays....stays.
I'm happy with the list you gave me....I just mentioned maybe a few more 50's clubs after looking at the heavy 60's balance in it and just the one 50's team.
I've got just the Rangers and Padres in the initial set...so we'll be ready soon.
i vote for the '93 or '95 Rockies, being a fan i would LOVE to have Andres Gallaraga back, along with Dante Bichette and Eric Young.

Thanks Knight. Much appreciated!
You know, I doin't even play with the regular teams anymore...just your classic set. And when the 50's-70's set is done, I'll be going into season mode with that one. Should tie me over all winter!!
Thanks again for all your work and attention to detail. We notice.
Dear Knight,
Thank you again for all your work on the rosters.
As promised I am providing below the information which I was able to obtain on the pitchers for the 1968 Tigers. As you know it is very difficult to get information on which pitches they trow and pitch speeds are virtually impossible to get.
The opening day roster included 11 pitchers; 4 starters and 7 relievers. Here they are:
Earl Wilson # 16 – was # 1 starter entering season in view of his 22 wins in 1967.
Fastball
Slider (which he would overthrow and cause to back up like a spitter)
Mickey Lolich # 29 - was # 2 Starter entering season, though missed start due to National Guard duty.
Fastball – low to mid 90s
Changeup
“wicked” Curveball 88-90 mph
Cut Fastball (added in 1971)
Denny McLain # 17 - was # 3 starter entering season
Fastball (relied mostly on)
Changeup
Overhand Curve
He was like a gunfighter on the mound and liked to challenge hitters. Lolich had better “stuff”, but McLain was better at outsmarting the batters.
Joe Sparma # 21 – was # 4 starter entering season
Possibly the hardest throwing of the four. When “on” he was unhittable. Unfortunately more often than not he had control problems and couldn’t throw strikes.
7 Relievers:
1. Les Cain # 38 relief pitcher
(June 1968 demoted to Toledo AAA where he remained for remainder of season)
No information on pitches.
2. Pat Dobson # 22 relief pitcher
Fastball
Slider
Curve
3. John Hiller # 18 relief pitcher / occasional starter
Fastball 90-91 mph
Changeup
Slider (learned in 1969)
1. John Wyatt # 37
(June 15, 1968 sold to Detroit by Yankees)
Hard fastball
?
2. Jim Rooker #
(His first appearance was June 30; after only two appearances he was transferred to the Yankees as the player to be named later in the John Wyatt deal)
3. Don McMahon # 47 relief pitcher/closer, threw both overhand and sidearm
Fastball
Overhand Curve
(Was traded to Detroit for Ribant July 26, 1968)
4. Roy Face # 30 relief pitcher/closer
(Sold to Detroit from Pittsburg and added to roster Sept 1)
Fastball
Curveball
Forkball
Note: Earl Wilson with only 88 Abs in 1968 had 20 hits including 7 HRs. He hit 33 HRs during 1959-1968 with 616 Abs, 127 H, 11 2B, 3B 6.
Karle, great info. Thank you.
The Tiggers will be the third team I complete.
Yanks first....Mets second(isn't always that way in N.Y. :-))....
I was hoping to get the first set totally completed by this weekend, but the D-Backs took me longer than I thought last night....
I should get this second set rolling by mid-week.
I like the idea of replacing at least one of the expansion teams with players that were very good, but not HOFers...and players that may have been fan favorites.
I am thinking we would not want to have dupes of players in the set. In other words, if the 68 Tigers are in the set, we don't want Freehan and Horton on one of the expansion teams. I started making a list of players, and I just want to make sure Knight agrees with this approach.
