Vulcan Change...New Pitch?

I was playing a franchise with the braves and making trades at the deadline when I stumbled upon a relief pitcher for the giants. He caught my attention because of his A potential. When I went to check his repitoire, I noticed it said "VCH". so i cycled to the list of his pitches and the pitch was called a "Vulcan Change". I've never heard or seen this before. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me and if anyone else has found a pitcher with this pitch. Thanks.

Re: Vulcan Change...New Pitch?

In real life, Joe Nelson of the Rays calls his changeup a Vulcan change because of the way he grips the ball. But in the game it just says changeup for him and it is not an option when cycling thru pitches (like it is for the gyroball and Dice-K). I know it shows up in the in-game strategy guide but I had not seen any pitchers with it. Here is an article where Nelson talks about his changeup (about halfway through):

Re: Vulcan Change...New Pitch?

It happens each year, random pitchers are assigned the Vulcan change. As far as I can tell, it acts exactly the same as the Circle change. Out of curiosity, how far are you, which rosters are you using, and what is the name of the pitcher?

correct...and I believe Eric Gagne was the first pitcher in a long time (I think a pitcher in the 70's threw it originally) to be credited for throwing that pitch
