Carew Curious about CAP creating info

Carew I would like to create my own CAPS and I have all the stats for pitchers and hitters and was wondering what u use for getting the numbers you give to the players in the different categories. I know in a previous thread u said you used batting avg. for contact so how do you determine say if a person is hitting .270 what his contact would be and also for power I assume you use HR's . What do u use to get the power rating. For pitchers what do u do to get their ratings. I have a guideline from a previous posting on here for speed of pitches to use just curious for the rest of the categories what you go by. For example if a players batting avg is 270 you give him 70 contact and if he is hitting between 270 and 280 do you give him somewhere between 70 and 80 contact. Would like to know what you go by for all the categories for both pitchers and hitters. I am very interested in making some CAPS for current minor leaguers and future prospects any help u can give me would be appreciated.

I think you're pretty new here, and maybe you don't know...but I do not divulge how I do the CAP making. That would be literally 99.9% of how I do it. The story bears repeating, but a few years back when I was on the MVP 2005 side, some creep...and that's being nice, PM'd me one day innocently asking how I do it. Before long, that *** was LITERALLY copying my exact style...down to my written formats. Then he had the gall to report me, for harrassing him.

With all of that said, I was never taught at all how to do this. It took a lot of time analyzing attribute settings and comparing them to players' actual corresponding numbers.

For batting averages, I keep it REAL simple...we all know the minimum possible is .000 and while a player can bat 1.000 in limited AB's, the ULTIMATE goal is .400. So...my range is only between .000 and .400. If 100 clicks = .400, then one can figure out the rest. This works and has always worked perfectly for me. I have little time for, nor do I care about progressions, AA batting averages or AAA batting averages, so...I never had and do not 'lower a players' split by this...or by that'.

I have talked about durability before, so I can mention that...

Again, I keep it REAL simple. Since 90% of ALL player's durability ratings are wrong/grossly wrong, it's imperative that a mass editing of this is neccessary. The biggest thing that will happen if you don't do it, is that you'll find the CPU resting guys an inordinate amount of times.

Position players: I divide the number of games played total by 162.

Starting pitchers: I divide their number of starts by 35 (the regular season maximum)

Relievers/Closers: their total number appearances will be their stamina. Now some guys because of late-season callups or injury, may be in say, 13 games all year. So what I've done is make a minimum of 20--nothing less.

Some of the other stuff I have talked about--directly or vaguely, including power ratings, was posted sometime ago...around April or May. If you search, you can find the group's thread.

I've said enough....good luck
