RAZRr1275's Pitching Edits Thread

Okay so just for the guys that want a progress report on my part of the rosters I'm about half way done. It's hard to say because I'm working by pages and not teams So I have 7 out of 13 pages done. My estimate is next week sunday night or if not then by Saturday of the week after that. I know that's a big window but this is a huge project. So lets just say that I'll be done 2 weeks from now Thursday night. Probably before that though. I know this is confusing but that's the best I can do.

p.s If you guys want I could post a half done (literally) preview roster to help hold you over. Most of the big name starters are done.

Also if I could have a helper that could do a coulple things at night at around 10:00 pm est that would be a huge help.

Also if you have any requests for pitches that your favorite mlb player should have i.e He has a slurve instead of a slider or 12-6 curve instead of regular. Just let me know and I'll put it in. I already have the speeds set out.

Re: RAZRr1275's Pitching Edits Thread

thanks for the update man..I'll start working on those pitchtrax tonight or tomorrow and send it back to you. A few guys I could think of off the top of my head for pitch types:

BOS: Clay Bucholtz has a 12-6 curve.
MIN:Livan Hernandez has a few different kinds of curves including one that goes about 65 MPH
TB:James Shields has a nasty change up, maybe the best in the game. Might wanna give him a circle change or maybe 2 kinds of change ups.
TOR: Shawn Marcum (see James Shields)
PHI: Hamels has a 12-6 curve
AZ: Webb's curve might be 12-6 too..the one he throws really slow

I'll try to come up with a few more

I'll see what I can do. Most of those guys I already did and with the 5 pitch limit It's kind of difficult. The 12-6 curves I can definatly get in but the 2 changes I'll have to see about.

And os'ers please post tons of feedback on this. Fans know best and I know there are lots of baseball fans here. Please respond!!

Re: RAZRr1275's Pitching Edits Thread

Zambrano has a 2seam for his first pitch (x), and a curve for his 5th pitch(r1, I think).

I'd take away the change for the curve. Next, switch the 4seam to the 2seam. Then, switch his cutter to the 4 seam.

His 4 seam has some cutter action when thrown slower (in the low 90's range), but not much, otherwise I would suggest little control and topping out at 97-98.

His 2seam tops out at 95-96 on his best best days.

His curve is thrown in the low to mid 70's.

The sinker could play both the sinker and change up role. I would suggest a wide range of mph on the sinker with lots of control, I'm thinking that would provide a good range (low as 78, high as 86).

His slider has awesome break, but he tends to hang it, so maybe a little less control, but lots of movement.

Hopefully those suggestions help, huge Cubs fans!

I dont know if he's good with it, but Tim Lincecum recently added a slider during the offseason.

pretty good description, except I do think you need the change up in there in some form cuz he does throw a change up to change up the speeds. If anything, I think the Sinker should be his #1 pitch with lots of movement taking the 2seam and sinker role, and then add a change up. its tough with a 5 pitch limit. Sinker/Slider/2 seam/curve/change up

This website should have every bit of information that you should need for this project. At the very least, it can tell you which pitches are being thrown, the velocity range of those pitches, and what kind of control the pitcher has over them. Pretty neat stuff...

Re: RAZRr1275's Pitching Edits Thread

Can't wait til this is done, then everything will finally be ready to go....I do have one suggestion:

Hideki Okajima has 4 pitches - fastball, curveball, slow split (his out pitch), changeup/circle change

Re: RAZRr1275's Pitching Edits Thread

Jesse Litsch on the Jays recently started throwing a 2-seamer, it's not amazing, but seems to be effective and has been a big reason for his success in the past 3-4 starts.
