Is there any effective way to stop this early base stealing online? Every single time I step of the rubber he just slides back into 1st base. If I don't do this, once I start my windup.... the guy takes off and it's basically an automatic steal, even when pitching out. It's highly irritating. Any tips on how to stop this nonsense? I don't have 5 hours to hold these people on at first base. If they did this against the CPU.... they would be picked off every time. Any help would be appreciated. :-)[Reply]

Hey man, I encounter this all the time. Here's the trick, vary your times to the plate, and never pitch the ball before coming set. Here is an example: the first time somebody gets on, make your pitch selection and come set and hold, hold, hold, hold, hold, hold, and then pitch. The next time, hold, hold, hold, hold, and then pick.
Once you come set you can vary the time that you hold, if they leave early, pick them off or step off. Step off when they leave real early and if they leave when you've been set, pick them off.
Once you get the hang of it you'll find that it is an easy out every time someone does it. Also, you'll find that the guys who do leave early won't be as willing once you have shown them that you will hold the ball in that first inning.
And about your concern about the time it takes. You really only take really long just a few times during the game to show it to them. Not every time. But remember, if you get into a rythym the other guy is smart to steal off that rythym and get a better jump. Hope this helps!
