Freezing at Start button

I'm new to the ps3 online thing and am having some trouble. I have my modem hooked into my internet, no router, and my game keeps freezing. I know it's something to do with the dns servers and other settings but i cant get mine to work. Can anyone help me with this issue. I can browse without it freezing , just cant get into mlb08 the show and sportsconnect.

I have had this same problem for the last month.

People say it comes and goes, but it always freezes for me.

If you want to play the game, you have to disable your internet, and you can play the game

Sucks if you're like me and want to d-load rosters, but I'm waiting for Knight's roster anyway.

You'll see that whenever Sports Connect is having problems or is down.

I've only seen it happen one time myself but other's here told me that it was due to Sports Connect.

i doubt it's sports connect having problems or is down...

i was able to connect the first day it came out, but ever since it just freezes on startup

anyone ever figure out a way around this problem? i don't want to play online but would like to be able to d/l rosters, sliders and the new patch that is supposedly coming out , anyone , scea a little help here, why the freeze at startup??
