gameplay question

I have a game play question guys, I am playing this guy on my buddy list. Now he is notorious for pausing alot and using up the 5min onlone clock which is fine most of the time. So we are playing dodgers vs phillies i think and he starts Moyer. So i start off pounding moyer and he starts warming up the bullpen early, like the 3rd or 4th inning. So when he benches Moyer this guy brings in Brett Meyers who is in the Starting Rotation. This gets me heated cause this guy and I play alot and he claims he is a huge sim guy.

So im killing Moyer and he brings in another Starter instead of going into his pen which would have given me a decided edge. So im pretty pissed and Meyers goes on to pitch well and he takes the lead. So true to nature he uses up his 5mins, so im like you know what u wanna do anything to win so right back at you and i take the forfiet win. Of course we get out the game and hes livid and i explain it to him and hes like ok he understand but he still feels robbed. Am I in the wrong here or was I justified? Ive played guys that get shelled with their starter and then they bring another starter and I hate it, its the cheesiest thing ive ever seen. This guy also complained about me bunting with Pierre on the Dodgers where i bunted like twice the whole game because Furcal was on base and he was up. Then he goes and pulls a stunt like this. So what do you guys think? Im a sim guy all the way and i only try and play guys that are sim.

Re: gameplay question

Dude, you are taking this way too seriously.

1. Putting in a starter early in a game happens occasionally. Does a team want to lay down 7+ innings on their bullpen or put in another starter? I'd say it doesn't happen a lot, but it happens. Not cheese. Yea, it sucks, but it's not really cheap.

2. Let's not all get carried away with "sim" style. Sim style is starting to become this buzz word for when they don't like how other people play. In this game there are very few things you can do to not play "sim style". Throwing all strikes and stealing a base every single pitch are two. Baseball is a game that self-regulates very well. It is quite hard to find cheese in MLB like I would if I played a game of Madden or NCAA football.

Just go out and have a good game of baseball. It's not meant to be a sport you win every game. Hell, playing .600 ball for a year is pretty good.

So you hammer a guys starting pitcher and expect to get into his pen early and he brings in another starter. That isnt cheese or weak? I mean any 12 year old can throw starter after starter at you, isnt part of the strategy of baseball knowing how to manage your bullpen? So your playing a guy with the mets and you hammer Pedro and he brings in Santana, thats ok?

Btw ive been a Tigers season ticket holder since Tiger Stadium and I have never seen another Starting pitcher brought in after a starter was roughed up. They either leave them in there to eat it, or they go to the pen. So i dont know what your talking about.

If they are brought in after the 3rd I'd say it's cheesy. However, it's not impossible. Before the 3rd and you don't have much of an argument. I've seen starters brought in during a 1st or 2nd inning injury multiple times.

Wasn't trying to make this an argumentative discussion, but what does you being a season ticket holder have to do with this discussion at all? If you are at a lot of games then you actually see less baseball then I would sitting at home.

Oh well, Happy Patties Day!

Re: gameplay question

Well, it's true that the pitcher situation happens sometime. I remember this happened last year in one of the padres games.

Honestly, you can't stop people for doing these stuff. I don't really care as long as they don't over do it in the game. Like the game I had last night, mjonny stole a base with AROD and I was like what???? No way?!!! My throw wasn't even close, but luckily he didn't over do it with AROD (He got 2 steals with Damon though)

Re: gameplay question

I agree with Aragorn on this one.....its semi cheese....

Playoffs hell yeah that happens....regulars season....extremely rare....like once or twice a season.

Sim Style would be to go with the norms and not the extremes.

Especially if your playing a buddy ..... i think its kind of cheap.
