Did ps3 firmware update make online better?

I can't get online until probably tomorrow but was wondering if there was any effect to MLB The Show with the firmware update for online play? Any better with lag and connection?

And how is it lately online? Is it playable?

I have had no issues before or after the firmware update. So I guess I am not a good barometer!

For me it was a mixed bag prior to the patch. About 50% of my my games were lag free. I have only played 1 online game since and it was great connection wise.

I was wondering myself what the firmware update was for?
Did it give a description?...I didn't notice.

No..its really no better.

Since this game is peer to peer...Games will be hit or miss (no pun intended) based on the distance between you and your opponent.

I'm in Seattle so when I play West Coast people its decent...When I play east coast people its pretty bad to unplayable

Sony needs to invest in DEDICATED SERVERS for this game.

If you really want to determine what your overall connections are like..You need to play someone who you know is on the WEST COAST...More often than not someone gets the occassional bad connection and blames it on the opponents ISP...When in truth the issue is more of a cooperative thing...meaning not your fault...not mine but just a poor online network.

I have Verizon FiOS...arguably the fastest most reliable fiberoptic network available to consumers..Connections are hit or miss for me with no rhyme or reason...My DL speeds are over 15,000 and my Uploads are over 2,000...

I have the cheapest Verizon DSL you can get. Costs me $20 a month to be completely honest and my games played PERFECT before the update. Since the update, the first night I had problems with two of my games. Last night it played perfect!!!

I'm in the UK but hadn't played online before the firmware upgrade. Played my first game today against someone from the USA and the lag was pretty bad. Occasionally it was virtually slow motion and meter pitching was virtually unusable..

I played a second game against someone who's only about 35 miles away in the UK and that was much better. There was still some occassional lag but nothing that spoiled the game.

I don’t think the game goes peer to peer even after the game starts. I think it always gets funneled through their system for stat tracking etc.

I’ve played several games with a friend that lives about 30 miles away and our ping is usually under 25ms. We’ve timed it right before games. Some games have been OK with hiccups here and there and some have been horrible resulting in disconnects. I think they should offer exhibition games via direct ip/peer-to-peer as an option in addition to optimizing the system they use now.

Are you playing known opponents from the west coast or just people close to you that you know. The problem is most prevalent when opponents are a far distance away from each other...For the most part if you are playing people on the east coast your pings will be fine and your getting that false sense of security that the game plays fine...Then occasionally you'll get a bad connection and blame it on the other guy..Meanwhile he's thinking the same thing about you.

Try playing someone from the west coast and then let me know what you think
