Midnight Club Los Angeles Question

In Midnight Club Los Angeles can you free roam and drive around for fun without having to complete missions or anything? If so is the game just as fun when you do? I was planning on buying the complete edition and the game looks really nice. I've seen some intros on Youtube for other sports game commentaries with gameplay from it and it looks really authentic and realistic.

Yes you can just drive around the city without completing any missions. I have the complete edition as well and for $20 you can't go wrong. As for realistic, I wouldn't say so because MC:LA is an arcade racer but everything about it screams high quality as it is made by Rockstar. The environment is well made (with 24 hour progression), cars are relatively detailed and the amount of customization is astounding. It's a great game to just jump into when you have some free time and want to have some fun without worrying about anything.

I have the game. It's a solid arcade racer. Not the same fun as the first NFS and it is no Gran Turismo either. If you just want to have some fun, running from cops, running random street races, then go ahead. You can't go wrong for $20 either.

Re: Midnight Club Los Angeles Question

Yes you can just drive around if you want, there are custom soundtracks so you can just drive around and listen to your own music if you want to. Basically you don't have to race, but if you don't race you wont make money or gain rep or get access to better cars and upgrades and other ways to make money. So in other words, yeah you can drive around, but try to make some money also.

As others have said it's not GT or Forza its an arcade game. It's completely open world, no point and click and automatically go here or there, you have to drive wear ever you want to go. If you're near the Staples Center but you want to race in South Central, you'll have to drive there. But you have to obey the traffic laws if a cop is present or near buy or he'll order you to pull over and ticket you, you can try to out run him and keep your money but if you were driving to a certain part of town, outrunning the cop will probably take you to the opposite end of the town and you'll have a longer drive back. Which isn't really a problem but can be rather distracting.

There is a 24 hour cycle, which changes every 24 minutes. There also is weather, but I've had the game since 2010 and it's rained approximately 3 or 4 times since I've gotten the game. So basically rain is rare, but the effect is beautiful and it does effect driving and visibility and puddles will form. Also traffic flow will be different at certain times of day. Morning and Afternoons will be heavy, midday will be moderate, midnight will be pretty light. Keep that in mind when deciding to go race.

Overall its one of my favorite games, it has it's problems and I guess you can say its beginning to show its age and with the issues at Rockstar it might be a while before see a follow up and I'm thinking it might not be till the next gen.
