I pre-ordered it today (more or less to get the guy credit for a pre-order since I screwed him out of one on Madden) and paid it all off. I'll pick it up before work and play it all night after work

Re: Midnight Club: LA review

I'm not sure if the AI has infinte nitro or this is the worst "racing" game ever made from a gameplay stand point. It's not even racing hence the quotes. It seems to be entirely luck based. Don't even TRY the series races. There was just an entire block between me and the guy in 2nd (so no slipstreaming) and I saw them use their nitro earlier but yet at the finish line they were a mere few feet behind me like they warped or something. I still won that race but stuff like that...

Probably should've listened to reviews. Guess I can get the collectables and use cheats to even things out since the AI does nothing but cheat and also your car has magnets in its front bumper. Should've waited the day to rent it,I can see this getting traded in pretty quick.

I've played all the way through MC 2,3 and Dub Edition.

ANNNNNNNNNNDDDDD

Now the police have managed to ruin any fun in attempting collecting and now I don't have any money for any upgrades, not that they'd matter anyway. So now that's entirely luck based too.

Yup...

"I only have $36 left. Go ahead and arrest me cops, take my $36! "
2 arrests later
$-942
I've been getting $250 in the races they decided to let me win.
Gotta love how they line you up almost directly in another off limits area to imediatly start ANOTHER police chase.
So this is all ending up pretty pointless thanks to their wonderful game design.

Stats screen, most lead changes in a race: 38

On the bright side I only need to find one more collectable to hopefully make the races actually winnable/playable. Also everything looks really nice so it's graphically impressive at least even if the gameplay is just one big pile of bull**** after another.

Just be clear this game is not challenging,a challenging game is at least consistant and can be overcome with skill. This is just random.

Oh I forgot to mention, these are the "easy"/green races.

Found collectable #10.
Turns out cheats disable progression, money and rep.

Didn't even mention you're stuck with that crappy main character and there's no customization for him.

The cops have magic powers too. They came up during a race. This particular race was my second after finally getting out of negative money,I won and got decent money for once. JUST after losing them and them saying they couldn't see me anymore (pretty far ahead at this point) they manage to see me again right away while I was turning next to a wall wich they could apprently see through from a very large distance behind and I ended up damaging out hence losing all the money I had just won and then some ending up right back into the negative. I think this is the worst designed game I've ever played. What were they thinking?

I get it now.
It's like that episode of Family Guy where Cleveland brings over black monoply for their game night and Peter says "Do you ever win at this game" and he replies "No,you just do a bit better each time". Any time you get a bit a head you end up worse than you started with cause you get cheated somehow. It's not a racing game it's simualting being a minority in LA and that's why there's no customization.

Re: Midnight Club: LA review

I actually happen to love the game. Per my stats page, I've got three hours in playing it (not that much, admittedly), but I'm 6% through the story mode, and have won 9 out of 20 races. I've earned $4,000 and just beat Nikolai to get his '69 Camaro.

It's a lot of fun to me. I'm not a motorhead so I don't get into the Sim type racers (gran Tourismo bored me to tears). The graphics are fantastic, and I really like the paint/interior customization aspect of it. I haven't played any of the previous Midnight Club games, so a lot of this may be "newness" or "freshness" to me. But I dig it.

PS - I did the Rockstar Social Club stats page.

Re: Midnight Club: LA review

- If you're tired of the cops chasing you, either a.) pull over and take the cheaper ticket right away, or b.) use the freeways to your advantage. I've only been caught once out of 5 chases.

- I really enjoy the game so far. If I was looking for realistic AI, I'd play Gran Turismo Prologue (which I have been). Its a pretty fun game to me and it takes some strategy and you have to get used to the traffic. I got so frustrated for the first few races, but I got better as I've been going.

Re: Midnight Club: LA review

Solid Game Goh is a baby like the reviewers, the game is challenging but when i can get away from cops while using one hand on my steering wheel controller and the other eating fritos I think its safe to say this game isnt THAT hard plus theres difficulty options
