Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

The never ending debate. Who is your pick? I'll post my pick later, I wanna see what other people think first. Although my avatar might give it away, although I have more legitimate reasons haha

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

Depends what standards are being used. Best career? Best peak? Best performer under pressure?

In terms of raw ability, it's 1.) Hasek 2.) Roy 3.) Brodeur

I guess i'd say: at their best, who would you pick as your goalie to build around for one season.

Same order as above, then.

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

I can't simply judge on how many rings each tendy has Hasek got screwed out of one. So my order is:

1) Hasek
2)Brodeur
3)Roy

This debate comes back to the "Best *insert sport here*" of all time. I find these discussions pointless because "all-time" means different eras, with different players and different rules.

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

Hasek
Roy/Brodeur
Brodeur/Roy

Brodeur benefited from a "trap system "(as much as Devils fan hate that argument). The fact that Scott Clemmenson put up such solid numbers in that same system further proves that point. However, it does not take away from the fact that Brodeur was an insanely good goalie who helped revolutionize the position. Roy had a better defense around him in Montreal and more so in Colorado then Hasek did in Buffalo (in his prime). Hasek was just more "electric" (for lack of a better word) then the other two.

Take the era of 1994-2000 and compare their stats. Hasek dominates while playing for arguably the weakest of the 3 franchises (NJ, Col & Buf).

Playoffs-wise, they are all pretty even juxtaposed. Brodeur and Roy have more Cups but then again, Hasek had one potentially stolen from him thanks to Brett Hull's foot (as noted by Kai123).

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

I'd say

1. Roy
2. Hasek
3. Brodeur

Roy is the best playoff goalie ever and Hasek carried tons of Buffalo teams that had no business being even in the playoffs. Brodeur is a distant third for me.

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

Even if I weren't a Detroit fan, I'd have to say I'd pick Hasek overall. The man was so awesome, he's basically used nowadays as a classification of goalie.

Don't get me wrong, Roy is an amazing goaltender as well. And I feel like like if the Avs still had him when we had Hasek, the rivalry would have lasted a lot longer.

Re: Hasek vs. Brodeur vs. Roy

I'm not that huge a hockey fan these days, however, (as a Devils fan) Hasek is definitely the standard.

Hasek
Roy
Brodeur

As they said at the Joe 10 years ago, "Ha-sek's bet-ter."
