I want him to win the whole thing if a pro player doesn't. That'd be incredible. IIRC he was one of the chip leaders through Day 2...must've hit a cooler.

I don't think he was ever one of the chip leaders; his brother was near the top at some point, though. Given his current predicament (short stack on his table, money bubble coming up), I'd say there's only a 1-in-4 chance that he's still around by dinnertime.

That said, good for him. I always felt bad for him watching those NHLPA charity events, where he's trying to actually play poker (Luongo's style is pretty tight-conservative) but continually getting sucked out on by donkeys who have no idea what they're doing.

EDIT: Luongo just doubled up (his AQ beat 77), so his chances of reaching the money (top 666) are now pretty good.

DOUBLE EDIT: Money bubble burst; Luongo and his brother both made it.

So, there's a rumor that Doan has an offer 4 years 30M from an Eastern Conference team. That's just ridiculous.

You don't say.

Jamie McGinn re-signs with Avs, 2 years 3.5M (1.75M AAV).

Unsurprisingly, Luongo busted out shortly after making the money -- 44 vs JJ. Good showing, though.

Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread

Wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo is the team that put the offer in on Doan.

Wouldn't be surprised if the entire thing is made up, either.

Combined with the other moves we've made this offseason so far, if the Sabres were to sign Doan too and get rid of another minor player, then using last year's numbers, we'd jump from 29th in hits to around 5th. Insane turnaround.

I hope we're not turning into a thuggish douchenozzle team.

Jets, Kane working on lengthy deal

Quote:
The Winnipeg Jets and Evander Kane's representatives are working on a long-term contract that could see the player signed for up to six years.

Negotiations are moving at a methodical pace with both sides motivated to strike a lengthy pact and get it completed well before training camp according to multiple sources involved in the deal.

Contracts signed by New York Islanders sniper John Tavares and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel are being used as examples. Both players signed long-term packages coming out of their entry level contracts, Tavares a six-year deal worth $33 million and Kessel a five-year pact worth $27 million.

If for some reason, and at this point that seems highly unlikely, the negotiations turn to a shorter bridge-type contract, Kane's deal could be along the lines of the two-year pacts signed by James Neal and Logan Couture worth $5.75 million following the expiration of their entry level deals.

Following his 30-goal campaign last year, Kane has put himself in a position to hit a financial home run. The 20-year-old had 30 goals and 27 assists last season and while his game needs some rounding out, he has shown the ability to produce at a high level in the NHL.

Kessel scored 36 goals and 24 assists in his third pro season on a superior Boston Bruins team. Tavares had 31 goals and 50 assists in the last year of his entry level deal before his six-year deal kicked in.

There has been some talk this summer that Kane is reluctant to return to Winnipeg but the tone of these negotiations would suggest the exact opposite and that his actual desire is to become a franchise player with the Jets.

Wings avoid arbitration with Kyle Quincy, he gets two years, 3.775 M per.

I'm happy with that, I was almost sure he was going to get 4 or more million.
