Sucks for someone like me who's still trying to immerse himself into the game and the history and all that, but two or three months isn't a dealbreaker. Maybe it'll make me even MORE anxious to start.

Only problem is I'll have to be stuck with basketball stupidity until the season gets underway. Argh.

Because the owners place zero value on the first 2 months of hockey, I could easily see a shortened season beginning around Christmas.

If there's more than 10 missed games, I'm done with the NHL.
The owners and Bettman really couldn't care less about it's fans. They know they'll continue to come back no matter what, so they continue to stomp all over us.
Not to mention the product on the ice; too many blocked shots, not enough skating room, too many concussions, goalie gear that's twice as big as it should be, not enough quality even-strength goals, a disciplinary system that's a laughing stock of the league, etc, etc, etc.

If there's another stoppage, there is absolutely no reason for me to spend any more of my time, energy and especially money on a league that hates it's fans and couldn't care less about the product it puts on the ice.

The league's overall standard has declined precipitously since it was "remade" after the last lockout.

I think it's both the league and the NHLPA taking the fans for granted here. They take the bonanza Canadian market for granted as guaranteed money no matter what, but this disagreement is also a slap in the face to markets like Nashville and Carolina that have become charmed by the game since the lockout.

Other issues of the cba dispute aside, the biggest one is still a fight over which side owns what of the revenue pie. Both sides want to own more than they do now. Fans lose. They've put this money into the coffers, and the league and PA can't responsibly reason how to share it.

If they are locked out for a substantial period of time again, then I hope the league suffers serious damage. If the sides can't agree, I hope the fans speak with their wallets and make the market for pro hockey in North America one where there aren't millions to be made whether you're an owner or a player. Let's see how ownership and the PA would like that.

I would hate to see the NHL have another lockout. All of the big markets are rolling right now. Boston, New York, Philly, Chicago, LA, Vancouver, Detroit, and even the small markets are competitive. I mean the goals are down overall, but the game is still fun to watch. If we could get a slight uptick in scoring the NHL would grow so much over the next few years.

They have a great contract with NBC. I mean every playoff game is shown nationally. Thats awesome exposure for the league. It's just a shame we're in this situation again.

Completely due to the refs mysteriously not calling obstruction anymore like they did when the lockout ended. It was supposed to be a big part of making the game better. I have no idea why it stopped being called.

I don't get the point of needing more goals. More scoring results in each goal meaning less.

All they have to do to open up the scoring again is cut down on the size of goaltender pads. The pads should be purely for safety, not extra large to stop pucks.
