Yeah, Asham is a classy dude. I can't fault him for the gesture after the fight... you just knocked a dude out, that's a pretty high emotional state right there.

But he is clean and he is old school. You can just see the power behind those 2 punches he threw... whew!!

I don't blame the gestures either. It's obviously OK for Ovie to concoct some elaborate goal celebration, yet Asham gets criticized for his antics and is being labeled as "classless" by a lot of hockey writers. The fight was at a critical part of the game in between two heated rivals. Adrenaline happens.

The fight was clean too. Beagle takes a shot at Letang, and Asham defends the star player. This is when fighting should happen.

Asham will probably be fined or even suspended for the gesture, but if he does, then the NHL is only proving itself to be a huge hypocrite for the millionth time.

If you allow fighting, this stuff is going to happen. Plain and simple.
I didn't see Domi get suspended for doing the old 'Belt around the waist' gesture after he tuned up Probie.
Or how many times did we see Brashear do the old, bush-hands routine after a dust-up?

Like slick and letsgopens said, your adrenaline is through the roof and you just KO'd someone that took liberties with a star player, AND he's on a rival team. What does the NHL expect?

Brutal knock out, I always respect both guys in a fight so good stuff from both of them. Asham was clearly a better fighter though, Beagle was wide open for two nasty punches right in the face.

I see no controversy with the gesture afterwards either, it's a fight.

I was laughing so hard after that knockout. Best KO I have seen in a hockey fight.

On the other hand, Two straight SO's by Detroit after that horrible 3rd period against the Sens. Great start by Detroit to the season.

Ovie commenting on Asham celebrating a fight.. oh man!!

honestly, Asham apologized, now Beagle needs to step up and thank Asham for not letting him drop face first on the ice..

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread

My friend said she was excited to get the Sims Pets. I asked her what she'd play with and she said "a doggie!" so I asked her if she picked a name. She said Luongo. So then I says...they're in 10th so he must be playing like a dog,it fits!

So why are they in 10th? Well 11th now? What's the problem there? It is Luongo?
Red Wings are doing well at least.

No love lost here. I never felt he was giving a full commitment and playing to the level of his potential. His play vacillated year to year, forcing pucks, taking ill-advised shots. And I never understood giving him the C as early as they did. Fer cryin' out loud.... you could see in his car commercials the lack of enthusiasm. Carter was harder to let go for me.
