Let me start by saying that I've been an avid hockey fan for well over 15 years. I've loved the Chicago Blackhawks since the days of NHL 94 on the Sega Genesis. I've been to Blackhawks games in St. Louis, Chicago and more recently Nashville. In fact, I'd say I've seen the Hawks play in Nashville probably 10 times. I've only been to the United Center once and to St. Louis to see them once as well.
With that being said, I was at the game last night in Nashville and the fans were absolutely obnoxious. They chanted "sucks" after every Hawks player during the intro and then chanted, in unison "he sucks too" after the Quenneville's intro.
That was at the beginning of the game and I didn't really have a problem with it. Then, the Hawks got a power play. After the arena announcer said "the Blackhawks are on the power play" the fans chanted, "and they still suck".
When Huet gave up a goal they chanted, "Huet, Huet" which is fine and ended it with "you suck" and proceeded to chant "we're gonna beat the hell out of you".
It seems Nashville is obsessed with sucking things, I don't know. But regardless, I found it very humorous that a last place team which has now only won 4 games chants things like this. It would be different if they were actually a good team but they've never done anything. Not won a division, a playoff series, nothing. I was looking at their rafters and they have no banners for anything, so what do they have to brag about?
Again, the point of this thread is to ask, do other teams have ignorant chants like this? I am going back to Nashville to see the Hawks again on December 26th. Toews and Hossa will be back by then so we'll see who "sucks" then.
One last side note, the stadium was probably 2/3rd full. I'd be surprised if Nashville is around very much longer, another indication of their ignorant fans.

Sounds like an MD game. The student section does a lot of those.
Caps fans do some pretty annoying stuff (chanting the goalie's name wayyyyyy to early (like after 1 goal), the counting off of the # of goals and saying they're all you're fault to the goalie (so dumb), and an obnoxious cowbell that for some reason is acceptable at a professional sporting event when it is barely acceptable at a high school game).
I don't have a problem with fans chanting stuff like that. It can get annoying, though, when they do it every single time.

Predators fans do the "its all your fault chant" and yes, they will chant the goalies name after 1 goal. I just have a problem with the word "suck" every 10 seconds. Come up with something new. And again, I'd venture to say that Nashville fans are the least knowledgeable fans in the NHL and it shows if you've ever been to a game there. I'm not saying Blackhawks fans are the most classy by any means but I don't think they have a barrage of chants that include the word "suck/s" after everything. Maybe I'm wrong. Like I said I've only been to the U.C. once.

The fans at Michigan hockey games were pretty obnoxious. I haven't seen it at the pro games I've been to though.
At Michigan there was a whole list of stuff you yelled at a guy getting a penalty. When the goalie takes off his mask to take a drink you yell "ugly goalie", when the other team's parents cheer you yell "ugly parents", it got pretty obnoxious.

Depends where you are. I went to a Rangers/Devils game in Jersey last year. The 5-year-olds were yelling far worse things than "so-and-so sucks", let alone the "adults".
Nashville fans pulled off a prolonged chant of "We're going to beat the hell out of you"? If true, I'm kind of impressed.

They do it at Devil games also. I always thought the chanting of sucks after a player introduction was pretty universal at every sports arena.

Yeah, you'll find this stuff in every sport. Fans are fans. But at least we've stopped short of riots, a la some soccer hooligans. Call me whatever the heck you want; just don't smash my head with a crowbar.:-)[Reply]

Is this a serious question? Are you really asking if every single one of the LITERALLY MILLIONS OF HOCKEY FANS IN THE WORLD behave in a certain manner that you don't find acceptable?

They do the same thing at Sharks games, Ducks games, and Flyers games...I think it's fairly common place but could be wrong. I find the whole Canadian Ole Ole Ole thing far more annoying.
On a random tangent, the funniest chant I heard was in regards to Tom Poti..."Let's Go Poti"...
to which my friend yelped, "Hey Poti, Dump It in the corner"
