Ovechkin is "week-to-week" with an upper body injury. I'm not really concerned because it's November and the team could use this chance to learn to play grittier and rely on AO less. Missing 5-10 games would hurt his chances to get 50/50 (which I really thought he could get and think he could get one day), but for the long-term, it may not be a bad thing.

Desperately need Jan Hejda back.
I have been watching the Jackets a lot more this season thanks to Centre Ice and I think the commentator from yesterday's game was dead on about the Jackets needing to learn to win. They have stretches where they play great hockey and other stretches where they lose their focus and blow leads.
I have to say I have a man-crush on Rick Nash :-) That guy's a beast! I have liked him as a player since his junior days in London and I hope he has a breakout season
On another note, glad to see Razor shut down the Avs and I agree that Anderson needs a rest. Also, the Flyers are rolling again. Nice wins over the Canes and Lightning.

I love Rick Nash too! Also, wow the Bruins are sure stinking it up right now. I guess they will get it going with their team gets healthy. What is going on in Bruins Land, Realm?

the CBJ need to show some stones and go after Kovalchuk...they've got the depth to pull something like that off.

Penguins go to 12-3 on the year and 7-0 on the road (ties NHL record to start a season) by grinding out a 4-3 win against Anaheim last night. They had four PPs in the 1st period and they were abysmal (finished 0/6). You can tell they miss Malkin & Gonchar big time there, since lead the rush and dictate most of the play once they set up.
But goals from role players Rupp & Dupuis, young D-men Letang & Goligoski, and some skin of their teeth defending late in the 3rd was enough to earn two points.

Mike, Columbus needs something to get over the hump, but I'm not sure Kovalchuk is it. I think the point about them needing to "learn to win" is a good one and as great as Kovie is, he hasn't exactly won much (as unfair as that might be to say given the situation). He'd be a great addition from a talent standpoint, but they've already got some real talent up front. I think they'd be better off going for someone to stabilize the blueline.
I think the team to watch for making a big trade is Boston. I may be wrong, but I believe they have two 1st round picks in both 2010 & '11 and three 2nds in '11. They traded away almost 60 goals in dealing Kessel & Kobasew and they're struggling, so perhaps 1+1 could equal two for once. I'm not necessarily saying they'll go after Kovalchuk (he might stay put and the cap makes it unlikely), but I'm sure Chiarelli is feeling the heat, even if injuries are a big factor in their recent form.

Yeah, that was nice. He even tucked his skates inside the post to make sure it didn't carom in (intentional or not)...

That would be AMAZING. Nash and Kovy...wow.
BTW, Nash has been ON FIRE to start the year. He's been unstoppable.
