This is the first year I am really going to try and get into hockey. I cant just settle for only football during the MLB off season anymore. I admit, I know nothing about hockey (I cant even name one player) so its gonna be fun trying to learn the intricacies of the game. I'm kinda excited for the season.

If you can go to a Thrashers game. After you see your first game live you will be hooked!

The 'Nucks were horrible in the opening period and Luongo was shaky, but he did get better as did the rest of the team and if they had played a whole 60 minutes of hockey, the game would have been closer

I agree with Realm on the Bruins - they were sluggish but it is a long season. I was glad to see Bergeron score and Backstrom with 3 assists made me happy since he's on my Hockey pool team.

Looks like Carey Price is primed for this season because the Habs had no business winning that game tonight. Then again, if the Leafs could stop being dummies on their special teams, they might have won too

I got Center Ice today and I am very stoked as I can watch and follow the other teams
The woman and I ordered Center Ice as well a couple weeks ago so she can watch her Wings and I my Bruins, pretty awesome package though I wish the cbc feed was better, didn't look very HD to me.

Bruins just didn't skate well is all, I'm sure it'll get better as they get back into the groove and get their legs under them, though I agree, it was nice to see Patrice score a pretty decent breakaway tally.

I caught bits and pieces of the Leafs/Habs game and man I almost wish I had watched that entire game as it looked like a fun one. The Habs definately stole that game because Price was extremely solid and kept them in it, looks like the kid may rebound well after a shaky sophmore year.

Colorado was pretty impressive tonight too, that Duchene kid is impressive for as young as he is to play at the level he did in his first NHL game, even on the PK he did a fine job of keeping the puck in the other end to chew time off the clock, and if it weren't for Nabby's poke checks may have talled more than once on some real good looks in close, could be a star in the making right there.

So glad its hockey season again!

as far as i know the american provider ci packages don't carry CBC or TSN games in HD, at least DTV doesn't. However NHL network shows all saturday Hockey Night in Canada games in HD.

and as for your sharks last night Scott. Really though opening night is pretty much a crap shoot as to who will win with all the players so pumped up.

Vesa Toskala is pure garbage...

Gustafsson should play tomorrow and he will most likely beat out Vesa. His days as a legit number 1 are winding down.

I can imagine that as soon as the monster is ready to go, that Toskala's starts will quickly evaporate.

He didn't do enough to keep them in the game. Toronto out shot the habs by too wide of a margin to lose that game. Price played great, but Toskala can't be that bad and still expect to win the game.

I expect once the monster settles in that Toronto will be an improved team this season.

The Thrashers snag Christoph Schubert off re-entry waivers from the Senators. Since it was a re-entry claim, Ottawa will be responsible for half his salary.
