I can name 11 players in the NFL from THIS SEASON.
Hell, half of the Bengals are on parole as we speak.
*shrug*

Those are the guys that came to mind in the 10 seconds after I read the post. I don't pay enough attention to the NFL to name all of their parolees.

Are hockey players cleaner than the those in the Big 3? Sure, because a higher percentage of players come from middle class homes. But the off-ice foibles of hockey players tend to brushed aside as "boys will be boys" in Canada and ignored in the US.

EDIT: The only NHL player with any kind of 'sensationalistic' charge is Mike Danton. And that case got plenty of publicity. Especially in Canada.
I remember it being a moderately big story. But I bet this guy still isn't widely known for what happened with him and others. Plenty of people wouldn't even recognize his name.

Re: Am I Alone in Feeling...

Speaking of Danton, his agent and Junior A coach Mike Frost was just acquitted on all 4 charges of sexual exploitation dating back to the time of his coaching days in Junior A.

I have no clue how a scumbag like this can avoid jail time.

ESPN doesn't give a **** about hockey. Out of all the sports on OS, this one gets the least love. The NHL forum is dead compared to NBA, NFL and MLB. I really feel this game is more entertaining than any of those.

Anyone else share these feelings?
I don't really follow hockey much, but it is ridiculous how little attention the sport gets from ESPN.

ESPN doesn't even have an NHL Show. And they don't carry any games. My guess is that if they actually carried the games, there may be more attention paid to it. Maybe.

I know.. it would be nice if they had an NHL show. It could even be like that NBA show that's only 15 or 20 mins long. I can't see them picking up NHL games anytime soon. I mean why show NHL games when there's plenty of poker, arena football, and obscure college games.

Yep, those of us who are big hockey supporters agree. Your comments perfectly characterize why it needs to be on ESPN.

Re: Am I Alone in Feeling...

Yeah, if ESPN ran more hockey coverage I'm sure the sport would be more popular just because ESPN is the #1 sports network. But since hockey is not that popular in areas of the United States, they don't feel the need to show it, which only keeps it down.
