God I hope so. Dr. No Save is horrible and should be traded for a 7th round pick instantly.

Pazzy will get hurt again.

I think Mason will be up around the beginning of Feb. 1st.

He's still a 55-70 point guy with potential for more.
We don't have a traditional draft. We bid on our players. We're also allowed to have 'x' amount of keepers depending on how you finish.

I decided to make him a keeper at $3.00 (with a $25 cap). After a tremendous World Championship I thought this price was a steal. Especially when you look around and see that other top line 'stars' were going between $6 and $12.
But this kid is not doing well in Hitch's system.

I remember hearing Hitch say he wanted Nash as a centre this year and it looks like he finally convinced Rick to try it out. I didn't see the game last night, but since he didn't get any points I consider it a failure. This dude is on pace for 40 points. Nice.

it's not nash's fault...he needs a great center next to him...umberger, so howson thought, was the answer. the failing of this offseason was the inability to acquire either patrick marleau or olli jokinen, pure and simple. and the one playmaker they had, zherdev, they shipped him off for a pair of crappy defensemen.

they're too damn cheap...

I think Tyutin was considered to be a great prospect around the league. That remains to be seen. But Zherdev is sure looking good for the Blue Shirts. He's been their best player on many nights the last couple of weeks.

But I think that deal had more to do with getting Hitchock type players in.
Umberger is now a LW, like he was in Philly. And you're right. If Howsen really thought this guy was a #1 centre, he should be shot.

If the Nash experiment at centre works, they have a bright future up front. With Nash and Brassard centering wingers like Filitov and Voracek, they'll have a couple of great one-two combo's out there.

My feeling is that Hitch won't last the season. This team screams "Washington 07" to me. They were horrible under Hanlon's defensive system and then in comes Boudreau who let the horses run and...voila! They're a winning team and in the playoffs.
The same should be done for the Jackets. This isn't a team like the Flames or Bruins. They're young with great wheels. Let them force the play instead of sitting back hoping to win games on other teams mistakes.
There's no reason why this team shouldn't make the playoffs, but under Hitch's system, I don't see them making the postseason.

Sorry. I didn't mean to insult Nash. I love the guy. I'm just angry about how poor he, and a few other of my guys, have been doing this year in the pool.

I agree. If he was given a true #1 centre, he'd be great. Heck, look what he did with Mathew Lombardi at the WC's!
Part of the issue might be that he's playing LW. He played RW in the WC's and seemed to love it there. Phil Esposito is always commenting no how much better he is on his off wing. I'm starting to agree.

Re: This will be the last year I draft Rick Nash

Wow, my fantasy team is going in the toilet.

Thornton hasn't had more than one multiple point game all year.
Michalek has had only one good week (when he was on my bench).
I picked up Vlasic two weeks ago when he recorded 9 points in 11 games but has gone scoreless in 5 since I grabbed him.
And now Nabakov is hurt. Awesome.

I think it's safe to say that I have the anti-Midas touch. Everyone I grab turns to crap.
Last week I put Ryan Suter and Michalek on the bench. Both guys got 4 points each.
This week? 0 from both.
I had Chara starting all year where he gave me an awesome 3 points in 11 games. I bench him this week and he scores a goal last night.
I drafted Tobias Entrsom and he gets 1 point in 10 games. I finally drop the bum and he gets 4 points last night.

Last season I drafted Plecanec and P.M. Bouchard. Both guys started the year slow and in a 3 week stretch I think they had 1 point between them.
Since our pool is designed to not preach patience, I drop them both. Bouchard responded by getting back-to-back 4 point weeks and Plecanec went on to score at more than a point-per-game clip.

I hate pools. I should just quit as it's starting to take away my enjoyment for just watching games for the fun of it.

LOL. Normally I would never be accused of overthinking, but when it comes to hockey pools I turn into an idiot who starts to take ice conditions into account.

But I'm happy to report that my team has rebounded nicely since two weeks ago.
Thornton, Kopitar, Nash and Chara have all been producing lately.

I have Mikko Koivu benched this week since he had 1 point in 5 games so of course he's got 3 goals in 2 games this week. But I'd rather he produce on the bench so I can put him in this week for the slumping Prospal (who's now on the 3rd line).

But it really hurts me now that Green appears to be injured. That dude was on pace for 70 points and now he could be out long term or play at 60% the rest of the year. ARgh!
