They have a decent chance this year. Brassard and Jake look really good, like they are ready this year. Also, down on the farm, Filatov has scored a goal in every North American Professional game he has played. Should see him in Columbus at some point this year.

They have the talent, maybe a deadline deal for a PPQB and another good defensive player and they'll be a pretty legit team.

Canucks/Capitals tonight on Versus @ 7pm for those that get it. Can't pass up a chance to see Ovechkin in action...

Its gonna take me some time to get used to posting in here. I was gonna post a comment the other night, but I figured it was gonna come off as too noobish/obvious seen as how I'm still trying to get back in the hockey loop and still trying to re-learn the behaviors of all the players

The Bruins trade defenseman Andrew Alberts to Philadelphia for a prospect and 4th round pick. Apparently that pick will become a 3rd rounder if Alberts re-signs with the Flyers after the season. Puck Daddy takes a look at Alberts' recent history with the Flyers, as Scott Hartnell was suspended for a questionable hit on him last year.

Glad to see Montreal start the season with 5 out of 6 points. The team is looking good and we beat a very good Philadelphia team on the road. Also glad to see the new acquisitions like Lang playing well and making every minute count on the ice.

Re: The 2008-09 NHL Regular Season

I wonder how Ryan Hollweg is still on an NHL team even after all his bonehead plays that cost his team big. Any of you guys see his boarding major yesterday? Toronto was up 3-1 and on that penalty the Blues potted 2 goals. The Blues ended up winning this game which was going Toronto's way till' that play.

This guy is an idiot, getting suspended three games in his FIRST game back from suspension.

Re: The 2008-09 NHL Regular Season

Well, apparently no one on the Canucks reads this thread, as they simply didn't show up last night in Washington. They registered only 10 shots en route to a 5-1 (I think, I bailed in the 3rd) mugging by Ovechkin & Co...

Tonight is the first of meeting of the season for the Flyers and Penguins (7:30pm on Versus). Both teams are struggling a bit out of the gate and have some serious injury/depth concerns on the blueline. I wonder if playing a hated rival will wake up one or both squads?

If Michael Peca gets suspended for 10 games, I will piss on Gary Bettman.

This could be entertaining. I didn't see it myself. Will have to catch up on it I guess.

From what I read it seems Peca was just trying to plead his case.

"The only contact was me grabbing his arm to slow him down," Peca said, "because he was skating away and I wanted to plead my case.

"They've claiming I hit (a) linesman with my stick after I hit the glass with it, which is completely false."
