Yeah, I know it has, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it. Teams playing overseas a week before some teams take the ice for the first time? Opening day for most teams scattered over a 3 day period? WTF is Bettman thinking? Pick a day, and have every team in the league open on that day. Make it an event.

I agree with you. Have that first game on one night, then the schedule can go where ever it wants.

Remember the first season after the lockout? How the first night had every single team going? That was awesome and it should happen like that every year.

I understand what the NHL is trying. It's a global game so they're trying to grab some Euro dollars and interest.
But I don't know how valuable these overseas games are.

I think it would be better to do this trip half way through the season.

Last night featured 4 games. Wow! What a bang! It should have started with Crosby vs Ovechkin and other great rivalries.
Having Detroit face Toronto was great, but where's Montreal-Buffalo? NY vs NY? Get some big rivalries going first thing.

It's like the NHL goes out of it's way to market itself so poorly. I don't know if they could do an even poorer job. Seriously.

Yeah I hate that the 2 teams have played 2 game already even before some teams finished the preseason. That to me it so stupid. Oh well. At least it started for my Sharks. Last night game was great and the Wings lost too, I was shock there. Tonight there are some great games too. I love Center Ice.

The NHL really just does not get it when it comes to marketing. Last night's premier on Versus was a joke, not just because the NHL is on that network at all but come on, Def Leppard and Alanis Morisette? How are, new, younger fans supposed think that hockey is cool with those acts headlining their opening night.

A shame really, imagine how much the NHL could have cashed in on the parents of that age. 3-10 demographic!

Scott, that's probably your best post ever on OS. Kudos.

I didn't even notice the Rags are playing tonight. Tomorrow night, the Flyers open up against the Rangers at home. It will be the Flyers first game of the season. The Rangers? They will be playing their fourth.

Yay, Gary Bettman!

So the Philly open tomorrow. Damn I wanted to watch it tonight. Oh well. I watch some of the Hawks and Rangers. Rangers look good. I am still shock the way we handle the Ducks.
