Joe Sakic: Return Or Retire?

Do you think Joe Sakic is going to retire or return and play another year?

I think he'll give it one more go around - especially seeing that Teemu and others came back last year.

Sundin on the other hand I think is done

Sakic will probably give it one more kick of the can IMO. Sundin is an ***. He should've taken the Vancouver offer.

Sakic had a great season 2 years ago and last year had a good start then got hurt. Sakic can still play no doubt.

Why is Sundin an ***, he clearly has more on his mind than money while contemplating retiring as a leaf or returning somewhere he can win a cup. If it was strictly money the Vancouver offer is a slam dunk.

Not to derail the thread, but I think Sakic will be back for one more year, make it an even 20 year career. He scored 100 points just 2 years ago and is good for at least 65-70 even if he had declining minutes in Colorado (which he wouldnt have, he'd still be the go to guy). I dont see him going anywhere else though, its either another go with the Avs or retiring imo.

Re: Joe Sakic: Return Or Retire?

Going with the majority on this one -- I as well think he will be back for one more year. Although it could be a rough one if the Avs don't get the goaltending sorted out. Budaj needs to step up his consistency or Raycroft needs to rediscover the form that won him the Calder Trophy...

Re: Joe Sakic: Return Or Retire?

Sakic to hold a press conference this Thursday, to say what he is doing

Re: Joe Sakic: Return Or Retire?

A press conference makes me think he's retiring. If he was coming back he would probably just say so and head into camp without any hoopla.

This just in: Captain Joe signs a 1 year contract and will be back with the Avs!
