Scotty Bowman Joins The Blackhawks

It's been so nice this offseason watching the Blackhawks at least attempt to better themselves as a hockey team.

This was a very astute move and I think Bowman will give the Blackhawks front office a whole wealth of hockey knowledge and experience.

So what does a senior advisor of hockey operations do? That means hes advising Savy? Im down with that. October cant come fast enough as far as im concerned. Lets drop the puck already!!!

It'll probably be very similar to what he did with Detroit which is advance pro scouting and being one of the go-to guys for advice on personnel etc etc.

BTW his son is the assistant GM over there in Chicago as well.

I'm getting very excited for the hockey season. I haven't been this excited about the Blackhawks in quite awhile. Plus they are on WGN this year. I never did get to see them in HD last year because I don't get Comcast in HD but I do get WGN in HD.

It should be an awesome year for Chicago sports in October. The Cubs are looking good, the White Sox are looking good, and now the Blackhawks are looking to sneak in in a tough Western Conference with a young, talented core. You guys should be extremely excited.

This is a very good move, I just wonder when or if he will comeback to coaching now that he is around the game again.

He never left the game. He had a similar role with Detroit ever since he stopped coaching.

I don't think Scotty wants the grind of being a full time coach anymore. This is a great pickup, and I think there's just so many people in the Wings organization that it makes sense for him to work with his son on a team that needs help.
