Trevor Linden retires

Wow time really goes by quickly. I still remember getting Linden's autograph during his rookie season in 1988.

He will be the 2nd Canuck to have his number retired (the same needs to happen to Pavel Bure but that's for another thread....)

I don't have a single favorite memory of Linden but the whole 93-94 season was pretty magical.

I thought he was over-rated by Canuck fans but I still have to salute him for a good career. The Canucks should offer him a job in the front office.

One of the classiest players in Canucks history IMO. I know he played for other teams but i'll always think of him as a Canuck. I'm glad that his uni number will be retired as well. I also don't have any particular memory of him except that he was a very steady guy who can be counted on in the clutch most of the time.

I assume you're referring to the playoffs only. The Canucks were woeful underachievers during the 93/94 regular season.

The image I remember most about Linden (other than being a nice guy and the worst 6'4" fighter in NHL history) is perhaps the most iconic photo in Canucks history: Linden leaning on Kirk McLean after Game 6 of the 1994 Final (14 years ago to this day in fact), bloody (from a last-minute Adam Graves cheapshot) and absolutely spent. Jim Robson's call of Game 6's final moments is probably my favourite single memory as a Canuck fan.

Final observation: I was in Grade 11 during Linden's rookie season. Ack.

It was enjoyable because Bure was trying to get back to back 60 goal seasons which he accomplished. And then of course Bure scored the most famous goal in Canucks history when he got the pass from Brown and scored on Vernon in double OT Game 7 vs. the Flames.
