Hasek retires

One of the top 5 goalies of all-time. I wonder what was the bigger thrill for him, winning the Cup for the first time or winning the Gold Medal at the Olympics.

Re: Hasek retires

Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press wrote a column today saying the Red Wings should retire Hasek's #39.

Drew Sharp shouldn't write about hockey.

Miller's not a FA until after next year.

Osgood will be the main guy next season. The Wings will either sign another veteran to share duty, or bring up Jimmy Howard from Grand Rapids and groom him for the job.

I still firmly believe that Miller is going to go home to play for the Wings after next year.

I know Dr. Jones disagrees that Ryan Miller can turn into the Brodeur of the Detroit system but I still believe! Not to mention they are going to have to replace Lidstrom being on the ice for half the game pretty soon.

Re: Hasek retires

Hasek is a somewhat surly "me first" type of guy who's definitely WEIRD but you can't deny his talent.

Oh yes and I agree this Drew Sharp character shouldn't be writing about hockey. I could see Hasek's number retired in Buffalo if he left on better terms but other then that there's no way i'd retire his number anywhere he's been.

Re: Hasek retires

Being a Flyers fan, I have a lot of not-so-fond memories of him. But I think the one that stands out is the time John LeClair scored on him; by slapping it THROUGH the side of the net.
