3 1st period goals are all the Canes needed. Ward pitches the shutout. Before the All-Star break, the Canes were giving up 3.4 per game. Since, they are @ 2.55. 2.2GAA in winning 8 of their last 9. There is your difference.

Definitely been playing well of late.
7 points up in the division with 10 play, I'm starting to look forward to playoff hockey.

Here's your difference: I dropped Ward from my Yahoo pool on Jan. 21, at which point the Canes decided to catch fire. No need to thank me.

Way to go. If they win the Cup, I'll make sure the Canes inscribe your name on the trophy.
After Sunday's skate hosting the Sens, Canes have nothing but divisional contests left. They can really put the vise on a playoff spot.

Big, big game tonight. Caps come in 5 pts behind the Canes w/7 to go. A win here by Carolina just about sews up the SE division. A Washington win means a dogfight to the wire w/another skate off looming in DC.

Great game. So-so result. Caps get the extra point thanks to the shootout win. Definitely helps their drive for the postseason & keeps the division alive. But the point for the Canes keeps them moving forward.

Huuuuuuuuuuugggeee skate tonight. Canes can clinch by clipping the Caps (I should write headlines). A loss & its a dogfight til the end of the season.
