Ruutu was given a 5 min major and a game misconduct, but IMO the penalty basically was handed down strictly because of the result. (I doubt he would have gotten anything more than 2 for boarding had their been no injury).
No doubt it was a penalty, Tuckers numbers were showing when he hit him, but I think in the end Tucker getting hurt was bad luck and all we can hope for is that he is okay.
*sorry to invade on the thread, I have no Avalanche fans to discuss with*
No prob. We Canes fans ain't exactly taking over the universe.
I wanted to know how dirty it was. I don't expect Carolina to do stuff like that.

Well that's good to know. I only got one peak @ it & it was super slow mode. So its hard to judge speed. Thanks for your take.

No problem.
I think slow motion can make any play look bad if it is over analyzed.
It was an aggressive play (it was waved for a penalty before the refs even knew Tucker was injured).
But there was nothing dirty or bad about it. Just very unfortunate for both teams and I honestly don't think it should have (or wouldn't have) resulted in anything worse than a minor had it not been for the injury.
Either way, I don't foresee much bad will on the Avalanche side other than the regular "I'm tougher than you" attitude.

I hate I missed that hit, but for anyone who knows Ruutu he's not out to hurt anyone...just flex his muscle for the team. Glad to see Tucker will be alright.

This team sucks. Fewest goals scored. Most goals given up. What in the world happened?

Thats what I wanna know. Aren't we the same team from last year that made it to the conference finals?

Canes went out to a 2-0 lead @ home vs the Loafs, the only team close to being as bad as the Canes, & lost.
I am baffled by the way the team is playing as well they look nothing like the team from last year even though it's pretty much the same team intact. I know we have injuries but to be averaging less than 2 goals a game is pathetic and even when they do get a lead they give up goals so quick afterwards and can't fight back. They have no offence and no defense so something has to change or it's going to be a long year. Winless in 12 is something an expansion team does not a team that's coming off a great playoff from last season. Heads should roll if it keeps up.
