Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Well, at least Esche isn't blind. He's knows what's going on, and he's handled it alright so far. It sucks because he hasn't been terrible, he's just got a couple of bad breaks (and injuries) and meanwhile Niittymaki, though his overall numbers aren't crazy amazing, has played crazy good (if you watch the games).

It's such a tough situation. I think Niitty is the guy going into the playoffs, though I would have not a problem with Esche being the man. He's proved himself in the postseason. We're good either way.

Putting our season into perspective...
The Flyers lead the NHL in man-games lost due to injury at 344

It's amazing that we're still fighting for the division.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers cannot let a team like the current TML's dictate tempo and flow, which is seems what happened after the Flyers first goal. It's so hard to seemingly continually watch them play in desperation versus in control. Once they cross that line come the playoffs.....they will be brutally dangerous. But, yes, health is the key.

He's been overrated from day one.

As for the Flyers, they've been quietly impressive this season. I didnt know they'd lost so many man games due to injury, but that just shows the strength of their team.

How do you think they'll fare come the playoffs Sully? Will Primeau be back?

There's speculation that Primeau might return, but he says he's focusing on being ready come next September. I'm not sure what to expect in the playoffs. At times we look great, and others we look god awful. I'm just hoping we catch fire at the right time, stay healthy, and luck out with who we're paired against.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

The whole East is pretty dangerous though. Ironically, I think we've played best against the #1 and #2 seeds (Ottawa and Carolina) then we have against the #4, #6, and #8 seeds (Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Montreal).

So there's definitely a chance we get knocked off in the 1st round with the way we're playing up-and-down now. Every single team is dangerous come playoff time.

I just hope one of our goalies catches fire and the team goes on a rampage at the right time (like Sully said). I predicted the Flyers as getting to the Conference Finals again this year but losing out to the Ottawa Senators. I think we get that far at least, and when we get there, it's a toss up.

We just can't look past anyone though.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Well, I don't have OLN, so only got to see highlights on Comcast last night. It's incredible how many times lack of clearing the puck has come back to bite them in the butt!! Thank God shoot outs aren't part of the playoffs.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Ryan Potulny makes his NHL debut tonight. I'm kind of excited to see what, if anything, he can bring to the table.
