Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Going back to Hitch's comment from last nite (Pitt game)..... the best was when the reporter asked Hitch what he saw from the bench on the (tying) goal....

Hitch: "A helluva a lot more than Nitty did!!"

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Ugh... what's up with the fly guys having this whole week off? It's killing me!

Anyway, i'm sure you guys all heard about Stevenson getting hip surgery. Definitely a bummer, but i'm hoping we get a chance to see Umberger get called up. Possibly Gratton or Eager too to give us some toughness in our upcoming rematch with the hated Leafs.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

The chemistry of Stevenson with the new look Flyers worried me at first as I only saw a quick pre-season blurb where it looked like he was challenging Primeau's "C" on his shoulder. But, I really don't know Stevenson's character and he did seem to contribute from the get go.

The group love trip the Flyers are doing this week may be a good chance for them to gel personally which seems much needed as other than Forsberg and Gagne, there's been spotty chemistry. It's amazing what a trip will do for men to get together and get on the same page to take care of an upcoming task/job (okay, okay...you Flyer haters.....STOP singing Y-M-C-A!!! lol)

I think you'll see a different team in Toronto on Saturday.

Man, I'm in heaven....just heard the Chiefs/Fins game will now be Friday night and the Flyers will go on Saturday! Great sports weekend!

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

I thought we were in trouble when we squandered those early PP chances, but Esche really made some great saves in the second period to keep things close. After blowing some leads earlier in the season, it was nice to see the Flyers get stronger as the game progressed last night. And it's great to be getting more players involved in the scoring than just Forsberg/Knuble/Gagne.

Why did we resign Therien again? He's like a traffic cone out there....

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

The Leafs really deserved to lose that one last night with bad puck handling. Coughed the puck up in a 5 on 3 to Richards, and then all the momentum tilted towards the Flyers' favor.

Sadly, I guess we'll have to call the Flyers our daddy . In '02 it was Philly in the 1st round, '03 it was Philly in the 2nd round, this year, I expect much of the same.

Well, clearly you don't want to take the Speedy Gonzalez's of the hockey world, the Canadiens, into a 4-on-4 situation. Esche played well again and does not deserve the "L". The pathetic 4 man OT team should get it instead.

Esche's 2nd goal was an atrocity. A rebound goal on an attempted pass from inside the opposition zone? Yikes. Overall Esche played well, but in true Flyers fashion he allowed one bad goal that was our undoing in a tight game.

In an unrelated observation, the Flyers really should have bought out Brashear. He's a useless liability now and will be even more of a useless liability when the playoffs roll around. Yet Hitch gives him all the ice time he wants, including a shift towards the end of the 3rd period last night in a tied game. I don't get it.

All good points......however, the thing I've grown to have confidence in for Hitch is that he will make a quick and proper analysis of what exactly is going on and make the necessary adjustments.
