What's the word on Preemes?
Ah, Primeau. I've heard rumors he might be done, not only for the season, but for his career. He just can't shake the symptoms from the concussion. Supposedly, the symptoms from his last concussion in 2004 lingered for almost a year.

While I hope this isn't true, I wouldn't be surprised if it is. It's time for Keith to stop thinking about hockey, and worry about his health for the remainder of his life.

Get well, Keith.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Keith provided one of the biggest performances in the 2004 playoffs, but the young'uns have really stepped it up for the Flyers and performed very well with all of the injuries. Carter, Richards, Umberger, and Eager have all done well and I feel each should stick on the team.

Let Primes have the season off, and use his salary for some fine tuning if needed. I have a feeling he may not be able to ever come back...

Wow! I didn't realize it was that serious..... hope there are no long term effects.

On the upside....he can sit back and enjoy the magic of the current road trip!! I knew they missed Sami and oh how he has lit it up!!!

Richards' hit that he put on Petrovicky the other night against the Thrashers:

That looked like the shots Lindros would take regularly, except to the head!! I digitally captured the game the other night, but got lazy and didn't save it. I'd love to have Kappy's game winner..... it was art!

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Which one? The one vs the Thrashers, or the one vs the Hurricanes?

I've been capturing each game's highlights from NHL.com, so I can crop it and send it to you if you'd like (otherwise the full highlights for each game run 10-12MB usually).

The Flyers official site also has them in Real Player format: http://www.philadelphiaflyers.com/media/gamelist.asp

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Pitkanen and Esche were skating aggressively in practice yesterday, and are working themselves back into shape. Esche was on the ice for nearly 50 minutes, making a lot of goaltender movement, while Joni went through an extended pre-game skate.

And now for the great news, Keith Primeau skated for almost an hour, and reported no problems to the training staff. Rumors are that he is going to attempt a comeback after the Olympic break.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

While I can't say I'm very excited about the Esche news, that's freaking outstanding about Preems. After watching the team for an extended period without him, it's really obvious what an immense impact he has on the team from top to bottom doing everything that you don't see in the box scores. There are so many different situations during the game when I say to myself, "Man I wish we had Preems out there right now." So that would be fantastic if he could actually come back and hopefully he wouldn't risk long-term health issues by doing so. I hope his first game back is a home game.

I also heard Hitch is going to run Carter on the top line again like he planned to do at the beginning of the season, with Knuble bumped down to play with Zeus and Sami. Carter, imo, has demonstrated a much better ability than Knuble to finish while playing on the other lines, so hopefully the confidence and comfort on the wing that he's gained since the start of the season will result in him really blossoming on the top line this time around.

You are correct. Carter will be placed with Forsberg and Gagne tonight against the Rags.
