Nice win vs. Minn.....Nitty seems more and more comfortable in goal. Young bucks still stepping it up.

Carter to move back to Center, and Primeau is skating!

I can't wait to have #25 back on the ice.

Sully....do you know of any trades that are imminent? D help seems most crucial, especially a good PK guy or two. I'm not so sure about this Luongo talk in goal.

Leopold's name has been thrown around, as well as Niinimaa's, but they're not exactly known for their ability to kill off a power play. Hatcher's been playing great the past two weeks, but with all of the injuries, he's been logging some serious ice time. I hope he doesn't start to tire.

In regards to Nitty, his play as of late has done one of two things. It's either rasied Hitch's confidence in him, or increased his trade vaule. As much as I like Luongo, he's due a huge payday at the end of the season, and I'm not sure he would fit financially into our future plans. We still have to re-sign Gagne this upcoming offseason.

It appears Clarke wants to give this team time to heal, and then gel. However, everyone knows that Clarke is quick to pull the trigger.

More injury news...
Brashear is due to have a MRI on his shoulder, and will miss tomorrow night's game with Columbus. Ben Eager and Eric Chouinard will make the trip. Esche is scheduled to start in goal.

The brutal 11 game road trip is just 2 weeks away...

I agree that Hatcher's been playing better recently, which isn't really saying all that much. But his play does seem to improve with the more ice time he sees. I wonder how long his body can tolerate this kind of workload.

The jump from Nitty to Luongo isn't significant enough to warrant giving up any of our young players. And nobody wants a package of junk for a guy like Luongo, so I really hope Clarke doesn't make a panic move for a goalie (Mike Comrie for Sean Burke, anyone?).

The Brashear loss is addition by subtraction and I like what I've seen of Eager since his callup. Hopefully Esche will show us something, otherwise this might be the last time we see him for a while. Rebounds to the corners, Esche! Rebounds to the corners!

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

26 minutes and a +2, Hatcher was outstanding tonight. He's carrying that defense right now. Esche was solid in goal, and we were able to kill of three 5 on 3 power plays in the second period alone.

Rags lost. 4 points back, with 4 games in hand.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Really looking foward to the matchup tonight. I have some money on the line.

Both teams are rested. The two clubs use to have an annual New Years Eve tilt.

The Forsberg/Knuble/Kapanen line will see a lot of Ohlund tonight.

Hopefully Bertuzzi's great play from the Rangers game (minus the 19 PM's) carries over.

Great test for both teams.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

This......is....f-ing...RIDICULOUS. HOW MANY INJURIES MUST WE SUFFER?!?!?! First Richards gets a cheap shot concussion, then Carter gets hit in the ear with a puck. Make it stoooooop!

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

4 quick thoughts on tonight's game....

- Despite scoring 4 goals, I can't help feeling like we just don't have enough horses right now to compete offensively with the better teams in the league. At one point tonight we were running Kapanen, Umberger and Kavanaugh on the PP. That's pretty sad. Aditionally, it seemed like Forsberg is getting frustrated at the amount of help he's receiving and looking to do more and more on his own rather than relying on guys like Knuble who can't finish worth a damn.

- Vancouver really does a nice job of pressuring the puck on the PK, especially up top at the point. I wish the Flyers did a little more of that, challenging the puck carrier instead of laying back in the passive box. Our PP is terrible right now, but the Canucks really didn't give us much time and space to execute tonight. And time and space are a gifted offensive player's best friends.

- Esche is not the answer in goal.

- Ok seriously, WTF is going on with all the injuries. Richards (possible concussion), Carter (hit in ear with puck), and Esche (unknown) all left tonight's game. This is getting absolutely ridiculous.

Re: The Official Thread of the Philadelphia Flyers

Excellent win tonight.

Always good to see the Nucks come from behind after 2 periods on the road.

Although they beat a banged up Flyers squad.

The Sedins have really surprised me this season. Due to their quality of play this season I will no longer refer to them as the Sedin sisters. It looks like they have finally turned the corner.

The 3rd Flyers goal was brutal. I could have stopped that shot.
