If true the Saints were listening in on coaches. Later you had the Sean Payton painkiller scandal. Now in 2012 we have the bounty system situation. As a whole the Saints organisation have been involved in controversy for 10 years now.

So yeah, this whole thing makes Spygate seem not as bad as it was first made out to be. Not saying the Patriots weren't wrong for what they did.

Sources would have to come forward to really prove anything like this and even then at this point would still be a he said/she said barring evidence (recordings?). I agree with Polian on ESPN (which PFT is parroting) who said a GM listening to opposing coaches during the game creates almost zero advantage and makes no sense to do really. You can't really communicate that onto the field in a timely fashion and recording it for your own coaches probably is also useless for providing any future advantage.

Meh, I guess. Seems to be a bit of a reach IMO.

I'd separate this from the whole Bounty deal and the Painkiller deal as well. Was mainly just talking about this story coming out and Spygate and even if we just compare these two then so far Spygate is still worse than this.

This I can agree with.

Still think the NFL needs to clean house in New Orleans.

Its already been mentioned but as the article states it is "Alleged" that this occurred up until hurricane Katrina. I'll wait for the facts before I rush to judgement. Never thought I would get burnt out on news about my favorite team....

If true there are grounds to fire Loomis, however who else that is involved was around in '02-'04

In '02 Benson fired Mueller kind of suddenly and made some interesting comments if you guys go find them, seeing them on twitter but trying to study for final in a few hours lol.

If there's no advantage to be gained, why would he do it in the first place?

Re: Mickey Loomis listened to opponent headset interactions, allegedly

It's been said he has no communication with coaches during games and yeah any football man would know this listening would do little for the future, or so i hope.

It was installed before he was there by a GM who according to Benson wanted more power and was fired. There's a lot of speculation without hard evidence(to the public at least) at this point as to whether he used it or not, even had it switched over to opposing teams, etc. A lot of moving parts to this story

That's pretty interesting though i'm sure with something like that tempting him I bet Loomis did listen on at times. You know how it is, if you ain't cheatin' you aren't trying. If this is true (about Loomis not the other GM) than one has to think there's an institutional problem in N.O. and that there needs to be a house cleaning.

(BTW my speculation on the GM that wanted too much power? Bill Kuharich, whose brother was known as a bit of a loose cannon so i'm sure some of that eccentricity rubbed off on his brother though Bill was widely regarded as one of the best talent scouts in the game during his years working in front offices)
