All I'm hearing about him is draft buzzwords - really hard to cut through. Bills fans are saying 'IF HE'S A FRANCHISE QB AND HE'S AVAILABLE YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM!' Others, like me, are skeptical. Especially if the Dolphins pass on him at 7... although perhaps their President will ask Tannehill if his mother was a street-walker and that'll turn them off.

Just seems like he's a hanger-on hyped up by the media as a third option when there are two clear options this year at QB. I wouldn't put it past Buddy and Chandler after some of their previous draft picks, though. Wily: check. Spread offense potential: check. From a southern school: check. Ughhhh.
Do you feel like Fitzpatrick can get the job done? I haven't followed much of the Bills, but it seems like he showed some flashes of decent play in the times I've seen him.

I feel like signing Mario shows that the FO is committed to trying to win now (and most Bills fans would be ecstatic with just ONE playoff game) and from all accounts Tannehill, a player who only started a year and a half, is a project.

I'd rather use the #10 pick on OL or DB than someone who might be good in 2015 (and if Buddy and Chandler don't do well this season, they're likely out... project QBs don't usually survive that).

So yeah, I guess I would say the devil we know is better than the devil we don't know at this point, although I am a Fitz fan.

edit: although one thing is true: if the Dolphins, who many believe need a QB, won't take Tannehill even though their coach actually coached him at A&M, there is no way in hell we should be drafting him.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

All you need to know about Tannehill is that he had a worse passer rating than Denard Robinson last year. Tannehill was 56th overall I believe. He is nothing special when watching the game

I wouldn't bank too much on how high a quarterback's passer rating was in college.

You look at guys with better passer ratings in their final year in college and they didn't exactly translate well in the NFL.

Jimmy Clausen - 161.4
Dan LeFevour - 150.3
Tony Pike - 149.8
Graham Harrell - 160.0
Pat White - 142.4
Brian Brohm - 151.7
JaMarcus Russell - 167.0
Jared Zabransky - 162.6
Matt Leinart - 157.7

And here are some QBs with similar passer rating to Tannehill's (133.2)
during their final year in college:

Josh Freeman - 136.5
Matt Ryan - 127
Matt Flynn - 125.8
Jay Cutler - 126.1

Why would I give you $35-$45 Mil upfront when in about 6-7 years, you'd start to be on the decline anyway?

Peterson went 7th and also went to a team that had one of, if not the best O-Lines in the league at the time. Not to mention, he was single handedly carrying his teams to wins as well.
Yeah I agree, Richardson needs to be the Browns pick. I'm not even convinced Blackmon is the best WR in this draft so picking him at #4 is a reach IMO, I'd support him if they pick him but Richardson is a beast. Richardson instantly makes our offense better because teams have to respect the run, if we pick Blackmon teams don't have to worry because we have Montario Hardesty who has shown absolutely nothing thus far in his career (although I haven't written him off yet, this is his do or die season though).

Richardson #4 and a WR at #22 and we'll be looking good finally on offense, see if Colt can do it or not and if not then go all out with a crazy trade package to acquire next years can't miss QB prospect.

Our OL isn't bad, with Joe Thomas and Alex Mack, if we can acquire a RT (maybe with our 2nd round pick?) our OL is actually looking pretty good, Jason Pinkston showed some promise last year so I like him for one of our G spots.

I love Claiborne so if they pick him I'll be happy but really think we're missing the boat if we choose anyone but Richardson, this is the AFC north, when the weather gets crappy we need to be able to run the ball and there is no one better at doing that in this draft than Trent Richardson.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

The league doesn't seem to put as much value on HB's as they used to, but Richardson seems like a special player. Cleveland needs to go out with a bang and snatch him up. The AFC North is such a tough division and Richardson would add even more intrigue to it. I don't know who the last true star the Browns had was, but he certainly has the potential to be one.
