Re: Gregg Williams ran a bounty system in NOLA

Its one thing for a coach to imply hitting the other team so hard they need to leave the game which is the cut the head off kill the body talk. I heard that all throughout highschool. But for a coach to literally say tackle his knees and take out his "outside ACL" or to make sure you strike a players head or ankle as you roll out of a pile is blatant instruction to injure and potentially ruin a man's career/life. That is unacceptable. Greg Williams will never sniff the NFL again, even if he is unbanned in the future. At this point, the bounties and payout systems are gravy.

The Saints were foolish for thinking this would blow over after the league already warned them. There is no defense for that.

I agree on the Haynesworth thing but to me Finnegan is a guy that plays up to the line of respectability. In a lot of ways he's a lot like the current DC in Tennessee. (Chuck Cecil who was pretty dirty but never did anything so bad that it warranted major fines and such) In my opinion Fisher's teams always played tough and borderline but not too egregiously. I can't remember how ruthless they were when Williams was there though I do have a couple games from his tenure in my collection which I might check out.

It's not just the ACL part. Telling his players to go after Gore's head, and the way the NFL is on concussions these days is a very serious matter.

We can agree to disagree on Finnegan. The real point is lots of people feel Fisher's Titans were dirty. I have nothing against them personally but that's a pretty common fact (that people think that, not whether or not they actually are/were).

come off it. you can make a case that every team in the league "plays dirty"
Is this supposed to be a dirty hit? The result was unfortunate ( for you), but the intent was honorable, unlike the way the Saints defense played in their Super Bowl run, ending Warner and Favre's careers with repeated cheap shots...

Actually, the Bears ended Favre's career the next year at TCF Stadium. I will bring that up whenever possible.

I honestly can't believe Cortland Finnegan just got defended. No offense there, SPTO, I just don't see it.

Favre was never the same after the barrage of cheap hits he took against NO in that championship game.

I don't understand how most of those hits were cheap.
