Re: Gregg Williams ran a bounty system in NOLA

The Washington Redskins had a bounty system for big hits on opponents under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that was similar to the one revealed by an NFL investigation of the New Orleans Saints, four players who played under Williams said Friday.

Three of the players described a coach who doled out thousands of dollars to Redskins defenders who measured up to Williams’s scoring system for rugged play, including “kill shots” that knocked opposing teams’ stars out of a game.

“You got compensated more for a kill shot than you did other hits,” said one former player, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Also:

Defensive lineman, Philip Daniels was the only player to speak to the Washington Post on the record. Daniels said that the most anyone was paid was $8,000 and that “Sean Taylor made a lot.” More to come, I’m sure.

Damn, Dungy blames Mannings current injury issues on a hit against Washington, when William was the D-coordinator.

Don't you have to actually make a hit to be a part of this bounty?

Daniels is a bum for specifically mentioning another man's name. What a coward move on a guy who cant even defend himself.

If Taylor was alive, Phillips wouldn't have mentioned him at all.

Personally I feel its pretty pathetic that you have to encourage a man to hurt someone in an already dangerous sport by paying them above their salary. I hope they don't allow them to use their franchise tag this year an lose their 2013 first round pick and Williams loses his STL job.

Losing their franchise tag could cripple them with the Drew Brees negotiation rumors.

They should designate the tag before they are punished. Maybe the league will punish them elsewhere.

Loss of next years top 3 picks would be adequate to me. Goodell should send a message and stop this from continuing anywhere in the league. Sean Peyton, Loomis should also get a fine for supposedly being aware of the situation and turning away from it all.

I was hoping this was going to end up with G. Williams riding around in a cop car with Steven Segal...

I think I may finally be watching too much reality TV...

Ha, haven't heard that name in a while.

I grew up with his family in Montana.
