Hayden, Sanders down for Indy

Quote:
Colts SS Bob Sanders will undergo surgery to repair an injury to his left elbow.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Sanders will miss "an undetermined amount of time." The Colts are used to playing without Sanders by now, and Melvin Bullitt has played well in his absence. With Marlin Jackson (ACL) out for the season and Kelvin Hayden (knee) out four weeks, though, Indy is suddenly short-handed in the secondary.

Quote:
Colts LCB Kelvin Hayden will miss up to four weeks with a knee injury sustained in Week 8.

Nickel back Marlin Jackson (ACL) is already out for the season, so rookies Jerraud Power and Jacob Lacey will have to handle starting duties against the Texans' high-powered passing game this week. The Colts have a resilient secondary, but the recent string of injuries will make them a better fantasy matchup for the next month.

Looks like the Texans/Colts matchup just got a bit more interesting. I feel for the Colts though... can't seem to keep a man in the secondary healthy.

Bob Sanders is a joke of a football player. This isn't the sport for him. Dude is like paper thin, wind would knock this guy out for the season. He misses the first 6-7 weeks, comes back and plays only two games with LIMITED play time and manages to get hurt again. He's not worth the cap space, IMO.

As far as the other injuries, Marlin Jackson hasn't played much this year anyways and even when he played he wasn't in the starting lineup. I still feel bad for him though, his 2nd straight season ending injury. As for Hayden, that hurts but we have some guys who will step right in and fill the role. I'm not too worried about it. But it does suck to not be at full strength and it sucks even more because this is the worst time for injuries to start piling up as the meat of our schedule is upon us.

Overall I'm not that worried. Sanders has only played two games this year, Jackson hasn't played since like September and he wasn't even the starter, and Hayden has missed 3 games(i think) this year already and we've been fine. I'm not trying to ignore the injuries or anything, because it does suck, but our defense is sort of injury favorable in that we can plug in just about anyone and wouldn't miss a beat. The only irreplaceable guys on defense are Freeney and Mathis. We need that pass rush.

He may be injury prone, but Bob Sanders is a beast when healthy. Not a joke of a player im my opinion.

I think Its finally time for Indy to get rid of this guy. I mean thats just insane how much he gets hurt constantly. He can't play a full NFL season or even a half of one, as much as I like Sanders It just gets to the point where you gotta let him go.

When healthy, yes. But the problem is, he's never healthy. That's why he's a joke.. I've never seen someone get hurt so many times in my life. He's missed more games than he's played in his career. It's unbelievable. Maybe if he wouldn't just throw his body around like he's Hulk Hogan, he wouldn't get hurt so much. Dude thinks he's like some 7 foot 300 pound beast, but he's not.. he's a little dude, but tries to play big.

I guess the question then becomes would you rather have an elite Bob Sanders who plays balls to the walls football for half a season or an average starter for 16 games?

lol so it's a bad thing that he plays hard enough to where he's not concerned with whether he gets injured or not. Fans are ridiculous sometimes.

That's pretty harsh about Sanders. Without him do you think they would have won it all a couple years ago? It would have definitely been much tougher. I commend the guy for throwing his body around, why would you want him to hold back, he wouldn't be the same.

You can't hold onto a guy b/c of what he did 2-3 years ago. The guy is too injury prone. I believe their defense is 1st in scoring this season so far.
