Re: Week 9: Texans @ Colts

One more game until the big Sunday Night showdown with New England. And it'd suck to lose to the Texans and be heading into that game being 7-1 and giving the Patriots a shot at tying us in the conference. I don't think that'll happen, but the Texans are playing pretty well. That said, I'd be shocked to see us lose to the Texans at home, but maybe that's because we've only lost to them 1 time, ever, and that was in Houston. So it's hard to imagine. Anyway, I'll say 35-24 Colts.

Re: Week 9: Texans @ Colts

This is easily the most important game in the history of the Houston Texans' existence; they're right on the cusp of being widely considered a legitimate playoff contender, IMO. Win (against Peyton Manning, no less) and they gain that status; lose and they're still a team on the bubble.

This game also should be a fine quarterback duel between Manning and Matt Schaub, though the loss of Owen Daniels, who is one of Schaub's favorite targets, to a knee injury is concerning.

Just got an ESPN text that Marlin Jackson tore his ACL in practice, out for the season.

Just saw that on the ESPN ticker thing at the bottom of the screen while watching PTI. It said it was on the final play of practice too. That sucks.

But as always, we'll plug someone in and be good to go. He hasn't played much this season anyways, and hasn't even been in the starting lineup when he's played. I just feel bad for Marlin.. his 2nd straight season ending injury and this one came in practice.

Re: Week 9: Texans @ Colts

I can't believe the Colts are 9 point favorites in this one. Sure, the Colts are the better team and should win this game, but the Texans have more of a chance than people think. Believe it or not, the Texans actually had a realistic chance of sweeping the Colts last year. (Rosencopter game, and had the ball with a chance to win on the last drive in Indy)

This is by far the best Texans team the Colts will have ever seen. The defense has been on fire, and the offense is top 10 again. The Texans can win, but they'll need a close to perfect performance.

I agree, last year the games were extremely close. I don't expect different.

Both secondaries for both teams have a large task ahead of them. The running game will be the difference. Who can stop who on the ground, who can force that extra Turnover. Stuff that usually decides games.

It will be interesting, Texans plan on using all 3 backs. All bring something different to the table. I'm excited to see that.

Colts injuries are really piling up. First Hagler & Jackson, now Gonzalez is out & Sanders is out for the season too.

Re: Week 9: Texans @ Colts

As for the spread, home teams get 3 points automatically then factor in that the Colts are coming off a bye week... that'd also get Brown back so I could see that bumping it up to 6 points before even considering the matchup. That's just generally how it's looked at. Brown coming back is part of the matchup, and that along with HOU losing Daniels, iffy with Slaton and that's probably how it gets up to 9. I personally picked HOU to cover but I don't like their chances of winning this one.
