Where would Colt McCoy fit in the NFL??

Contrary to what some believe, Colt is still a top-tier college quarterback and is a sure fire top 5 pick in the draft this year. Now looking at the NFL season, the Rams, Lions, Chiefs, Bucs, Browns, Raiders (I'm sure I'm missing some) have terrible records and are sure to get high picks in the 2010 draft. Also, those teams have high dollar investments for their respective QB's. Does McCoy slip because of this?

No, he slips because he's not good enough to be a top 5 pick. I'm not even sure he's a top 5 QB out of the draft-eligible guys this year.

Pike, Clausen, Bradford, Snead, Locker; all probably better prospects than McCoy. And you could even throw Tebow in there too, although McCoy's obviously more of the conventional QB than Tebow, I just like Tebow's ability to will his teams to victory.

Re: Where would Colt McCoy fit in the NFL??

Colt is basically a less athletic version of Tebow and that's not meant with any disrespect whatsoever. With that said, I think Colt will have a hard time being drafted in the top thanks to Vince Young. Colt runs nearly the exact same offense as VY and has the same "player makeup", but the difference is that McCoy is more coachable -- in other words he won't completely rely on his athleticism to make up for his lack of football IQ & ability to prepare.

I think teams will be scared off by this and Colt will definitely not be the first QB gone. I would have said Tebow, Bradford then Colt but with Bradford's re-injury who knows. Then again, the NFL Combine is a all messed up and nothing makes sense.

lol, he will be lucky if he gets drafted in the 1st round. I say he in an early round 2nd pick guy...

And is he a top tier QB this year season thus far? No

I'm guessing McCoy fell out of the first round after this weekends performance. The pressure rattled him. Plus, I don't think the NFL thinks much of guys that play out of the shotgun all the time.

Re: Where would Colt McCoy fit in the NFL??

I really don't think there's a 1st round QB that will be coming out next year.

Snead has been atrocious, Tebow is still a questionable passer. Bradford has had the injury issues, but he's still probably the best NFL prospect. Locker has opened some ideas, but is he just a more mobile Tebow? Pike is playing really well and has good size, 1st round? Not sure.

I tihnk McCoy is solid, but I'm not sold on him as a 1st rounder. He seems to have great accuracy, but he's in a very basic offensive system that he runs extremely well. He has some mobility, but does he have the arm strength? I'm just not sold yet.

CBS still has him as a 1st rounder, along with Tebow, Bradford, Clausen, and Locker.
