First-Quarter Season Predictions

So, we've gotten through the first four games of the season and we've learned some teams are tougher than what we originally expected and on the flip side we know that some teams are completely out of it.
Anyways, do you guys want to take a stab at who will win each divison and the Super Bowl?

Here's my guess:

AFC East: New England
AFC West: San Diego
AFC North: Baltimore
AFC South: Indianapolis

Wildcards: Pittsburgh and Denver

Notes: I think that the Jets will start to struggle over the next few weeks so, the will miss the wild card to Denver mainly because Denver plays in such a week division. Cincinnati and Houston could also, make a solid run at the Wild Card.

NFC East: New York
NFC West: San Francisco
NFC North: Minnesota
NFC South: New Orleans

Wildcards: Philly and Green Bay

Notes: I struggled with picking a winner of the NFC West between SF and Arizona. The Wild Card is also up for grabs with GB, Chicago, Dallas, Arizona and Atlanta all in the mix. But, I had to go with GB out of pure homerism and wishful thinking.

AFC Championship: I've got Baltimore vs. Indy- with Indy pulling out a close win,

NFC Championship: New York vs. New Orleans- In the battle of the "New's" and I'm going with the G-Men because of their Defense and running game.

Super Bowl: Indy vs. New York- My prediction for the "Manning Bowl" is Peyton and the Colts picking up the second Super Bowl title in recent years.

So, I know a lot can change over the next 12-13 especially with injury's and what not but, that's my predictions. Feel free to comment or add your and we'll revisit this again around week 8.

Re: First-Quarter Season Predictions

I like the picks although I think Denver will win the West.

And it would be awesome to have a Manning Bowl.

Call me a homer if you like but I still think San Diego wins the West. Denver can't live off smoke and mirrors the rest of the season. The combination of some weird plays and a week schedule have them where they are. When they get into the meat of the schedule with teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, NY and the Eagles not to mention the Pats this weekend we'll see who they really are.

If NO gets HFA, they're at least in the superbowl

If it weren't for the injuries I'd be more sure about SD still pulling it off. The thing about Denver's schedule is SD's gotta play the same schedule and have already lost to Baltimore and Pitt. Unless they get the center back healthy (which should help LT but who knows... and Phillips isn't coming back) and Merriman, I don't see SD beating NY, PHI or NE either.

The Chargers have to play the same schedule. Denver is off to a 4-0 start while the Chargers have already lost twice. And quite honestly I'm still not sure who the Chargers are. They're just so damn inconsistent and I do not think Norv Turner is a good coach. The Chargers have good players, but they don't have the coaches.

They don't have to play NE they got the Dolphins and already beat them and I see them beating Tennessee while the Broncos get the Colts. The overall schedule favors the Chargers.

Ah ok.

I still have SD winning the division (and those two things you just mentioned restores a little confidence) but it looks a lot like last year. There's no doubt about the talent on the team but they have some injuries to really key spots. Hope they can get healthy.

Re: First-Quarter Season Predictions

well dude I hope you're correct with your Indy prediction.

I doubt they win the SB as I am sure they'll get their annual injury issue late in the season and I still am not sold on the defense being improved or the run game. Those are the two areas that have screwed Indy over the last 2 playoffs along with injuries.

Re: First-Quarter Season Predictions

Well we're at week 8. After looking over your predictions after the first four weeks, they still look pretty good except San Francisco isn't looking as great as they did a month ago. They're now 3-4 and have given up 1st place in the NFC West to Arizona. I still think it's wide open. Arizona is so damn inconsistent. It's like when they're hot, they're on fire and can roll right over anyone. But when they're bad, they look like the Rams and Lions combined. I still think San Fran can win that division though. Anyway, the biggest one of them all are the Giants. They're not as good as everyone thought a few weeks ago. They've lost 3 straight and have looked very average. As of right now the Giants don't look Super Bowl bound anymore.. that goes to the Saints or Vikings. But forget about the Super Bowl, they may not even win the NFC East.

My midseason predictions:

AFC East: New England
AFC West: Denver
AFC North: Baltimore
AFC South: Indianapolis

Wild Cards: Pittsburgh and San Diego

NFC East: Philly
NFC West: Arizona
NFC North: Minnesota
NFC South: New Orleans

Wild Cards: Atlanta and Dallas

I'll wait until after week 17 to predict the Playoffs and Super Bowl.
