I might pay $20M / year for an in-his-prime Johnny Unitas. No one else in the NFL is worth that much money.

That said, if he hires Drew Rosenhaus as his agent, he'll probably get close to that number, which would be ridiculous. I'm nowhere near convinced that Eli deserves to be the highest-paid player in the league.

Your right about that. Plus he's not a true QB and does'nt have the acc of his bro Payton to even think of giving him that. Now go win other superbowl this year and will think about it.

I'm a Giants fan and while I like Eli as our QB, he's still flawed...

Plaxico made him look so good because he can get up and snag his 5-6 overthrows per game...

And he's still prone to some bad plays...

Ultimately I love the fact that he got the Giants a championship and I want him to remain in NY for his entire career, but 20 million annually? c'mon.

Chances are if a "source" is the only thing given for a ridiculous statement, it isn't true.

I guess any breaking story with "sources" is not true in Cebby's world

Anyways 20M a year is just ridiculous. If Eli gets that kind of money he'll be run out of town by the NY media once he goes into a funk. He's a good, solid QB but nowhere near an elite one.

Re: Eli Manning wants 20 million per season.

This is what happens when guys like Matt Cassel get $14 million a year based off of one season.

A writer with a history of proven sources and even some specificity might make me think about it.

However, in these days, anything is a source.

To me, major television stations, Washington Post, NY Times, USA Today, or SI are at the point where they can use a "source." When others use them, there's probably about a 2% chance of accuracy.

I agree...I probably should'nt have taken the info out of realgm.

This link has much more info regarding the situation...
Quote:
According to the Daily News, neither Manning nor co-owner John Mara would discuss details when asked during Giants minicamp this week. And when Manning, whose original six-year deal was worth $45 million to $54 million, was asked if he wanted to be the NFL's highest-paid player, he said, "I don't have an ego about that.''

Though $20 million per year might be too high, league sources expect Manning, who will make $9.4 million this season, eventually will get a deal worth around $15 million per year. Several league executives and NFL agents expect the final package to be for seven or eight years and be worth around $110 million-$120 million, with more than $40 million in guaranteed money.
