I agree that while not worthy of election to the HOF Tillman should be recognized (as should Delaney..it's a shame how few people know who he is)

Again, not worthy how? It's called the "Hall of Fame", man! Not the "Hall of Statistics" or the "Hall of Superbowl Winners".

He is worthy of being enshrined.

It's a Hall recognizing incredibly talented to players who achieved on the field. Tillman, while a great guy, wasn't that great of player. He deserves some sort of recognition, but HOF votes shouldn't be determined by some sort of sentimental attachments to great stories.

He is worthy of being enshrined.
It's also called the "Pro Football Hall of Fame"

Youre opening up too much of a can of worms with that one. If youre going with that angle, then Heath Shuler was elected to congress. Just because he is now famous, important, and is an ex-football player, that doesnt mean he should be in.

Your heart is in the right place but what youre suggesting is kind of problematic.

The problem lies in his performance between the lines. No one admires Tillman's courage and service more than I do, but enshrinement just isn't warranted.

995 NFL players served in WWII, 200 in Korea and 28 in Vietnam.

26 of those players were killed in action.

All deserve recognition and the gratitude of every American, but enshrinement, no.

Most of those players were drafted. Tillman volunteered (just like I did), and walked away from a multi-million dollar deal to do so (which I probably would not have). That is unique, and warrants recognition.

Ken Anderson. One of if not the most underrated QB's ever. Its a shame that a guy like Namath is in the Hall while Anderson isn't.

Bo Jackson. Yeah, he was a part time player but he's regarded as the most athletic man ever to play. Just think of what he could have done if not for the injury and if he focused solely on football. Also, Tecmo Bowl.

Randall Cunningham. Duh.

Cris Carter. Another duh.

All I got right now.

Well he was nicknamed "candlelight" during his playing days because he was so easy to injure. I think he lost a lot of playing time due to injuries in his career. That's one knock I can think of for him.

I will side with you and say that his numbers do warrant at least some serious consideration.
