Great, another super subjective rule for referees to screw up with. Oh and yes, this is a terrible rule that is destroying what the game is all about. Let's face it people ACCIDENTS HAPPEN.

Ughhh...

I agree that defenseless players like QB's should be protected to a point, but this is wayyyy overboard. They are still FOOTBALL players, after all.

If a player is hurt within the realm of the game, well, that's part of the game. If it's dirty or intent to injure, that's not part of the game and should be punished. I think we can all agree with this.

Let's just hope they keep the physicality of the game in the game but also make sure that players are as safe as they can be while playing such a violent sport.

All this for Tom Freakin' Brady.

I agree with Cebby, they should honestly consider playing 2 hand touch.

They're just following the steps of other pro sports where they've adjusted the rules in favor of the superstars, but in this particular case, the most important position on the field.

Don't get me wrong, i don't have a problem with some of the rules... like you can't hit the QB in the head because it's typically called pretty well. I saw several Dallas games last year where Ware hit the QB in the head because he was pushed by a lineman and it was never called so I'm okay with that. This though doesn't leave any possible advantage for a defender who's been knocked to the ground. All they can try to do it "ankle pick" the QB or something, but you're not going to trip a QB that easily... and certainly not before they can get rid of the ball.

You know the ironic thing, if this rule existed 10 years ago the NFL never gets to see Kurt Warner's feel good story for the new millennium. It isn't like his career was bad for business.

Next rule: No tackling a player by their arms or ankles. Also, if you hit someone really hard, you get a 15-yard penalty.

Geez. I know they're considering banning crack-back blocks too, which is lame as hell.
