2009 NFL FA CAROUSEL

Soo...

Its about that time. Un-restricted FA's are going to start striking up communication between teams interested in thier services, and the landscape of the NFL will change once again.

Heard this morning on Mike and Mike a recent interview w/ ...

TJ "Who's Your Momma" Housmandzadeh who stated he...

"Would really like to play alongside Donovan McNabb, believed he could help take the Eagles offense to the next level, and liked the play calling of Andy Reid."

After they aired that clip, Golic said that TJ had stated, after the infamous Eagles/Bengals tie, as that game being an "interview" w/ the Eagles.

I would welcome this guy in a heartbeat, and I hope Philly actively pursues him this offseason.

Also...there was a clip of Larry Johnson saying he wants to play on the East Coast.

Now I see an article on ESPN regarding LJ wanting to part w/ KC.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3884915

So...let the carousel begin.

What rumors have you heard circling around your team?

LOL at Whosyourmomma stating he likes Reid's current playcalling which has gotten panned by nearly everyone else in the football world as being too pass heavy

Ray Lewis was on NFL Network and really danced around the "hometown discount". Bad news for Baltimore.

Re: 2009 NFL FA CAROUSEL

People are really jumping on Ray saying his contract decision will be "between me and God" too. On one hand, I agree with some of the critics. God isn't going to tell him to take the money or not. But really, it's just a statement that basically means "none of your business" and I agree with Ray there. Right now he probably doesn't know and doesn't need to say anything until it's a done deal.

Anyway, I think all the talk isn't going to help him decide to come back to Bmore. If he leaves, Suggs may not want to stay. Another thing on Ray... he's certainly not broke but he's apparently paying serious money from the follow up trial so he does need to get paid, and has proven his worth. Not good.

Ray said he doesn't play less so he shouldn't get paid less.

Hmm...A WR who is attracted to a pass heavy offense? Why that is just baffling batman.

A WR like TJ in our pass heavy offense would thrive, and so would Brian Westbrook.

Ray doesn't need to be putting God/religion/Jesus into everything...I mean especially after basically comparing himself to Christ when his whole trial debacle was going on.

Ya know...how he and Jesus were both wrongly persecuted.

Puh-leaze.

Call me crazy, but don't these guys make more money with the sponsorship deals they sign than their NFL salary?

Re: 2009 NFL FA CAROUSEL

I dont' want to talk to much about religion but I think the entire experience was pretty spiritual for him. I think a lot of what he's said has been taken out of context. Don't get me wrong, I think it's annoying but I've seen enough people turn to religion and feel so strong about their beliefs that they find ways to include it in every sentence.

Anyway, my point is really just that a lot of people in Baltimore are kind of speaking out on the same things you just said, and if we want this guy to consider coming back, criticizing him (especially about religion) is probably not the best approach.

People turn religous after they do something regrettable and unfixable in life. Think of all the prisoners who found god. My feeling is that Ray got super religous after that fateful night.

Not really sure with the NFL. Most of his sponsorship deals were stripped after the controversial case though. He got some back after the SB victory but still, you don't even see his face much locally. Plus with the money he's kicking out b/c of the civil case (I believe that's what it was) he's got lots of hands in his pockets.

I don't have any sympathy for these guys making more money than I can dream of making, but just some reason the "home town discount" may be less of an option in his eyes.
