Re: Way to go Norv!!!

Wow, this is the game that left me speechless. Pretty much the whole way through.

Norv got the proverbial "keys to the Ferrari", when he inherited the 14-2 team, and dismantled it to a Civic.

Predictable playcalling, no passion on the team, no urgency, no playoffs, season is done fellas.

Was that this decade? Wow seems like the last time was the Redskins! Ya but they are a joke of a franchise, they have a blocking TE playing QB, a OL coach as their headcoach, the worst Rec core in the league etc.... etc... etc... Like I said as bad as it seems for the Chargers just look up state and feel a lot better about yourself!!!!!

Great quote from Lo Neal in that article.
Quote:
They’ve lost their identity,” Baltimore Ravens fullback Lorenzo Neal, who played for the Chargers from 2003-07 before being waived last winter, said late Sunday night. “All the players who put together those great seasons are still there, but they’re not having the same results. Under Marty, the mentality was win, lose or draw we’re coming at you, with runs, play-action and leads and draws. Now they are a passive, finesse team.”

Re: Way to go Norv!!!

I heard Tomlinson's remarks on the radio last night. I'm afraid that the Chargers have wasted this guy's career. He's carried the load for so long that he's now seeing diminishing returns on his rushing skills. (tho it doesn't help that the O-line can't run block for their lives) I strongly believe that if Marty wasn't fired the Chargers would've at least gone to a Super Bowl in the last couple years. You could see that the team was playing hard and had an identity like all of Marty's teams had.

I'm afraid to say it but LaDanian Tomlinson is the 2000s answer to Barry Sanders. It's quite a shame and I don't blame the guy for being bitter right now. AJ Smith and Norv Turner have destroyed a pretty good team. They've ripped the heart out of the Chargers.

I still don't get why the Chargers released Neal. Same with the Vikings and Tony Richardson. It's not like either of them is going to demand a lot of money and both have huge success as 2 of the best blocking fullbacks in the NFL. Look how much better Thomas Jones is running this year with Richardson clearing the way for him.

Remember Norv's offense isn't really a power run game. The FB needs to be a receiver as much as a lead blocker. They wanted to get someone more versatile. It was the next step in turning the team from a physical power run team in to a finesse team.

Yet he is continued to be called a 'great offensive mind'. Yea, ok. Prove it. Beyond Dallas, who was so loaded with talent a half-retarded chimp could have called that offense, what has he done? Where was he this 'great offensive mind'? Someone please show me. Im a lifelong Redskins fan, and have never once seen anything proving this beyond Dallas. It's a joke that this man got the best job in the NFL at the time and only expected that he would tank, and all anyone has to do is look at the stats to prove it.
