Donovan McNabb / Ties in the NFL?

Still can't figure out how he didn't know this...interesting, that he'd cop to not knowing it in the postgame interview as well...

Just saw this on Monday Night Countdown.

Carelessness and stupidity. No excuse. You are a professional football player. It is your job to know the rules.

Re: Donovan McNabb / Ties in the NFL?

Apparently, McNabb wasn't the only Eagles player that did not know.

I'm not sure how anyone could play football, follow the game, and not know that games can end in a tie.

McNabb mentioned that in Pop Warner and College they continue to play, but did he never watch an NFL game when he was a little kid? Can he seriously have not noticed that teams have had ties?

It's just very weird.

He / they should know from playing Madden, if nothing else...right?

"I would hate to see what would happen if the Super Bowl or a playoff game ended in a tie."

I don't get it. What do think the third column in the standings was for "WIN" "LOSES" "DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN"?

He basically embarrassed himself and his team in front of the whole nation.

When I see professional athletes not know basic 101 in their sport, it reminds me more of how they are like us. I think there is no excuse for McNabb & the Eagles not to know about OT. But sometimes the game for them is really a job. Not every player is in the game because he loves it. Its because he's got the knack for it & circumstances drove him to the sport. Some guys practice & play, then watch their alma mater, play Madden, have 20 fantasy teams etc. Others, the only time they think football is when they punch the clock.

Yeah, like Dhani Jones. He just doesn't seem like the type to think much about football after the day is done.
