Anyone who’s been following WENB this summer will know that Pelluk have been a huge asset to the PES community. The mole from pelluk brings us some more exclusive info!
First up, there will be a fully licensed Champions League mode featuring the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United!
Some not so good news as well, unfortunately it looks like some clubs will only be partially licensed, and La Liga will only feature a few top clubs fully licensed, while others may have fake kits and team names. Good thing we’ve got a fantastic edit mode this year, Carl will have his work cut out for the WENB option file!
And finally, some big news- PES 2009 demo hits the marketplace September 11th, same date as Fifa! No confirmation of PSN though, I’ll be in touch with them to find out.
All info from the mole in his post here
Let us know what you think in the comments!
*UPDATE* After checking with sparky, PES 2009 will be hitting PSN on the same date aswell!

So, I'm going to have NHL 09 and both the FIFA & PES demos arriving at relatively the same time?!

Also, they better have the song of the Champion League, watching it on ESPN, I got addicted to it. Brian

I'm going NHL09, but might get both Footie games and then I'll be getting a basketball game, as well. Expensive hobby! Well at least College Hoops went away......

Re: Demo date and Champions League info

So it sounds like there won't even be a real Champions League game within the game. Why get the license then?

You've lost me. They'll have all the official licenses and logos, etc. And most of the real squads that'd be in it. How hard would it be to fill in the blanks on squads? If it has ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barca in it out of the box,I'd buy. I just want all of the official graphics out of the broadcast. I loved the little "The Champions!" gingle going in and out of commercial break. And if they had the pagentry of the tourney down, it's gametime.

What I meant was the PR said it will have a full Champions League mode. I would assume there's some sort of CL mode in the game. I would also assume that they have the full kits and teams for all CL teams.

But then you read on and it says that they have a lot of generic teams. Knowing Konami, that spells to me, that some of the CL teams will be fake.

I hope that isn't the case.

Re: Demo date and Champions League info

^ Like i've said before, both EA's UEFA Euro 2008 and UEFA CL 06/07 had plenty of generic teams, so just having the competition licensed won't guarantee ALL the clubs are licensed. Its good to see that all 4 English clubs are fully licensed, but if you click the link to access the forum, the guy mentioned that Atletico Madrid are NOT licensed, plus i'd be very surprised to see Konami bother to include noobie 08/09 qualifiers like Cluj, BATE Borisov and/or Anorthosis etc in the game, licensed or not.

This CL license/mode will be a waste to me if its indeed a separate "mode" accessible from the main menu only and not incorporated into Master League at all (ie: if they still have a generic cup competition in ML).

Demo update:

Quote:
News coming through from PESFAN today suggests that the PELLUK leak claiming a PES 2009 Demo would hit the Xbox Live and PSN on the 11th is not entirely true. PESFAN spoke to Konami this morning and were informed that it is more likely that the demo would be released around 3 weeks before release (17th October) and will feature clubs as well as national sides in a 5 minutes exhibition match.
Speaking to Konami this morning it seems not all the above information is entirely true.
A release date for the demo still hasn’t been confirmed but it is likely to be released onto Marketplace and PSN 3 weeks before the game hits the stores. Regarding the ‘build’ version, it will probably be the same as the Leipzig demo which received a negative reception on the forums despite players at the PES Rankings finale seemingly happy with it.
The demo should feature several licensed club and international teams, different to the teams on offer at Leipzig , which you can use in a 5 minute exhibition match with up to 4 players on the 360 and PC, with 7 players possible on the PS3.
PESFAN obviously have some good links with Konami and will provide some valid information. I would say that the 11th sounds too soon but given how Konami surprised me with a demo for PES 2008 last year you can never say never.
Take it with a pinch of salt, but a demo 3 weeks before release sounds good to me. The fact that it will have different teams to Leipzig means the possibility it will be better than the Leipzig demo (fingers crossed).
All the best,
WENB Team
