That Pistons team was a team in the truest sense of the word. They won a title, probably should have won two plus another finals appearance. You don't go to the conference finals 6 times in a row by accident.
I didn't say they weren't a true TEAM, I said they were not the best team in the NBA as it was stated before

That is hilarious lol I would love to see that as well

And it takes 3 responses to turn a Smush Parker thread (WHAT!?!?!?!) into a Bash Kobe thread.

Aaaannndddd, I'm ready for the season to start so we can have meaningful stuff to talk about again.

On topic, they hate him because he thought he was better than he was so he didn't end up nearly as good as he could have been.

That wasn't my point either. The Pistons proved they were the best team in the league by winning the championship. To say the Lakers were better would make no sense.

So you're saying whoever wins the championship every season is automatically the best team in the league.??

Isn't that how you determine the best team in the league? I don't know how you would do it other than that; this isn't the BCS.

No, all that means is that for 4 out of 7 games one team played better than the other.. If you can say something like who ever wins it all is the best team why couldn't you say which ever team has the best record is the best team.. Doesn't make any sense.. If you honestly think that pistons team had more talent than that lakers team or that this years heat team had more talent than the thunder, lakers, maybe even spurs or bulls with a healthy rose then you obviously don't watch much basketball

No way in hell butler was the 2nd best team in the nation for two years or the mavericks more talented than the heat last year.

You don't have to have the most talent to be the best team..but you do need talent. If every player plays their role to perfection there's no reason you can't be the best team and that's exactly what the pistons did.

Re: Why Did Laker Fans Hate Smush Parker?

The Lakers Lost in 2004 for several reasons. The first being the team had extremely poor chemistry, The Shaq/Kobe feud was at its worst between Kobe's constant comments on how Shaq was constantly "Fat and out of Shape" and Shaq pretty much voicing that the team did not want nor need Kobe when he was dealing with the rape case. The Lakers had a substantially weaker bench compared to years prior. Their was no Ron Harper, Robert Horry, A.C Green or Glen Rice anymore the bench mainly consisted of derek fisher and deave george plus a couple of throw in players. Gary Payton and Karl Malone did not fit into the triangle offense at all and when you put 4 superstars that all love to shoot the rock and are constantly going for their numbers every single night, disaster is bound to happen.

That being said the Pistons were the true definition of a team. Their was no real superstar it was a bunch of good players that worked very well together. Their defense was amazing and they were really able to stonewall any offense that they faced. Maybe the Lakers could have won if Malone didn't re injure his knee in the finals but I doubt that was much of a factor. The 2004 Lakers may have had the Greatest Starting Lineup on paper but it just doesn't work that way.
