Lieberman was 18 when she played for the U.S. Olympic team in Montreal in 1976 and became the youngest player to earn a medal when the team took silver. A decade later, she became the first woman to play in a men's professional league when she joined the Springfield Fame of the USBL. In July 2008, at the age of 50, she had two assists in a one-time appearance for the WNBA's Detroit Shock. Before then, she had also been the league's oldest player, when she was played at age 39. Lieberman played at Old Dominion from 1976-80 and led the school to two AIAW national titles. She was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame three years later.

wow, she interviewed with the mariners? i have never heard of her... seems like they would make a bigger deal out of her... i hope she gets a GM job soon... her becoming a MLB GM would be WAY bigger than a female becoming an NBA coach...

you crazy man. It will never happen, I bet my money a woman president to happen before this. Dealing with Testosterone Prima Donnas, crying to start or getting more minutes is already bad enough for a male coach. Then the gender issue and the butt slap, then the showers(Well i dont mind that if the coach is hot just let it all hang out).

This is a very progressive move on Mark Cuban's part so I applaud him for that. As for a female NBA head coach. I just don't see it happening. The only female coach that an NBA'er could possibly take seriously is Pat Summitt and her window is closing rapidly. (she's 57)
