Carmelo Anthony

Ballin' out of his mind, had 41 against the Blazers last night.

Any chance on him leading the league in scoring? He obviously has the potential.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

No Lebron and Kobe are clearly better.

A lot of his points came off freethrows...The game was called touchy for both sides.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

Since when does averaging more points = better?

Let's not turn this into another "who is better thread."

And call me surprised you're hating on him after he torches your team for 41. It's ok, I've been there. I'm a Knicks fan.

It's not the fact Im butt hurt I saw that one coming, but maybe I am. But in previous posts I had about Melo you would see that I think hes a tad bit overrated. Im not saying he isnt an all-star or anything, but I dont believe he is MVP material. His 50% FG will go down eventually once he starts taking a lot of mid range jumpers as well as his 3pt%

He will get a lot of points from the freethrow line off his brute strength, but I can just see him settling for mid range jumpers once the season becomes more wear and tear.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

He's got a very good chance, IMO. If Karl will play Lawson with Melo more, then he, Melo, can get more easy shots off of Ty's penetration, instead of always having to create his own looks.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

I can see Carmelo leading the league in scoring argument. In fact, it's better than the Kobe argument this season because the Lakers are such a deep team with so many scorers. Artest, Gasol, Bynum and Odom are going to score more points than Billups, JR Smith, Nene and K-Mart. The Nuggets are also a very up-tempo team.

It doesn't necessarily mean Carmelo is a better player, he's just in a situation to put up better scoring numbers. LeBron's Cavs have the weakest lineup of the three, but the Cavs are also a half-court, defensive-oriented team and have added a few more scoring threats than they had last year (Moon, Parker, Shaq).

Durant, Wade and Kevin Martin all have a shot at the scoring title this year, too.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

I really like Denver to come out of the West this year. They have quietly become my favorite team in that conference.

Melo + Lawson = Explosive Scoring Potential.

That's a much better comment. I can see your point now.

Brankle's points are more inline with my train of thought, though. Great post, Brank.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

In the end I definitely would put money on LBJ.

There are no more words to describe his offensive game. He can get to the goal whenever he wants and he usually gets fouled in the process.

I think a good debate is Melo vs. Durant vs. Wade

Those three guys will be right below LBJ in the scoring race.

Re: Carmelo Anthony

Although he may not lead the league in scoring,(I think when JR comes back melo's shot attempts go down a ton) but he is to me not based on what I seen to start the season, but coming off of last year's playoff run the best pure scorer in the L. Inside, outside off the bounce he had this all before, but now he has that "hold on a second you can't guard me" look in his eyes when he gets busy. And I love the fact that even when his J is falling, he doesnt rely on it. He still puts his head down and goes to the tin. Melo has become one of my favourite players to watch.
