I'll TRY not to answer to keep my homerism out but for everyone else: Is Devin Harris a legit PG whose name should MENTIONED with the Top PGs)or just all(All Show) score, score, score and that's it?
Curious to hear everyone else's "opinion" on him from some of our great bball experts.

I guess by that definition, he's pretty much all show. I think he has all the tools to be the best point guard in the NBA, but seems to be hindered by lack of coaching or drive.

Yea my bad, I should've tried to "broaden" the definition or the question at least.
Do you think he can bring/or has other tools to the table such as defense, passing, etc or just strictly a scorer?
A better question I should've asked(wish I could edit my post on OS Mobile)where would you rank him on a scale of 1-10 in the following:
Scorer. He was great in college as an off guard. I don't really see him being useful as a traditional point guard.
I would match him up with a sg defender like Courtney Lee and just let him score.
Devin Harris is a very good player. But he isn't a guy who I want running a team full of other scorers. He has to be the second best scorer on the team for it to be legit.

Devin Harris scoring is a product of a garbage team... He can't be the leading scorer on a winning team... He needs to be focused more on creating for team mates instead of scoring with all of those young capable scorers on that squad. Harris has a bad FG%, his scoring is a product of him taking a lot of shots, not a product of him being a really good scorer. His 3 point % is laughable...
If the Nets undo that Devin Harris for Jason Kidd trade, Jason Kidd would see far more success with that team. New Jersey needs a pass first PG, leave the scoring up to the other guys.

Far more success as in what? If it's just making the playoffs and getting eliminated in the 1st/2nd Rd then it's not really making progress really.
People keep saying he needs to be focused on creating for his teammates but when you are basically THE offense of your team and are the only actual scoring threat on your team, then it's kind've hard to create for others. Now what if he creates opportunities for others but they're not making their shots, is that his fault since he technically did create the opportunity to score but they failed on their end?

Making the playoffs and losing 1st or second round is not progress? if that's not progress for a team that would otherwise be lottery bound then I don't know what is...
How is Devin Harris the only scoring threat on his team? He has plenty guys on his team who can score... T-Will, Courtney Lee, Brook Lopez, Bobby Simmons, Yi.... there are other guys who can score in NJ...

It's not making progress when you're best player is aging and is not going to get any younger and you don't have the cap space to put pieces around him because of your best player's huge contract. They tried the "Draft and develop a PG to play behind and replace Kidd" thing and it failed miserably. This was the best thing that they could do for both franchises, not even including the fact that he no longer wanted to be there. If you asked other Nets fans if they would do this deal, 91% of them would still do it while if you asked Mavs Fans the same question, 100% of them would still do it in a heartbeat.
Let me rephrase that: Devin Harris is the only CONSISTENT scoring threat that we have on this team right now. T-Will is only playing in his 3rd career NBA game so you can't really call him a scoring threat when he has yet to prove he can score consistently in the pros.(he will EVENTUALLY).
From what I've seen of Courtney Lee thru 3 games, if he isn't driving to the lane trying to Y button his way into the paint, he's not scoring. I'm hoping last year's version will make an appearance very soon but I don't(maybe Brankles will know better than me)know if that was more of a product of the system or the players around him.
Yi is starting to finally(FINALLY) come around and hopefully he can keep this up throughout the season.
And did you really call Bobby Simmons a scoring threat? Seriously? I don't know how many games you watched of him or Nets games but what has he shown you lately to even be considered a scoring threat? It's obvious to ANYONE that the only reason he is on the team is because of his contract that comes off the books in 2010.

lol you just don't get it.... im not saying jason kidd is the answer to all of their problems... im saying they are better off with a pass-first pg over a scoring pg...
